  • Greatest Stones Album Ever?

In the spirit of the debate, I thought we'd get specific. Some introductory remarks:

-I decided to end at Exile because it seems like that was their last masterpiece (though not necessarily their last good album)
-Out of Our Heads begins it because there were only ten spots, though you can take it as a stand in for the first few albums.
-For the sake of space and originality, omitted the live albums.

I voted for BB simply because ALL the tunes are tight and it reminds me of some really happy times when it first came out!

BTW, why were all the summers longer and warmer when we were in our teens?

my favourite albums are basically from 'their satanic majesties......' to 'sticky fingers'!!! i never understood why 'exile' was classed as a masterpiece, though it's got great songs, i couldn't listen to it all the way through!!!!

their satanic majesties, on the other hand, is fantastic from start to finish, as is beggars banquet, let it bleed and sticky fingers!!!! i opted for 'their satanic majesties...' because it has that classic psychedelic sound.......mellotron, backtracking exotic sounding instruments.........'she's a rainbow' is one of my favourite ever songs!!!

          all the best,

          alex

'Exile' narrowly pips 'Sticky Fingers' narrowly pips 'BB' narrowly pips... I could go on!

None of the above. Rolling Stones 2 when they were young, raw and doing covers, including my all time favourite track Down the Road a piece.

Don't you wish your ankles could do what Mick's can do!

It's in mono so I posted it twice so you would get the stereo effect (get it sorted Deano!)

                  Seriously hard choice, this.
                  Have to go for Exile.

Sticky Fingers has always been tops for me; Exile is great, but songs like Moonlight Mile, Dead Flowers, and Sister Morphine are some of my favorites.

I notice that the James Brown tune is entitled "E I feel good" I didn't know he was from Heckmondwike .

No winner on this one, though I'm surprised that Request tied for first--I always thought the album was a bit of a Sgt. Pepper rip (though She's A Rainbow is a great tune).
