Anyone follow this to the end? I just got a chance to catch the conclusion last night, and felt ambiguous about it, which is appropriate I suppose.

On the one hand, they avoided the silly or easy idea that they were always dead and the island was some sort of purgatory; on the other hand, the idea that the characters all meet up and go to some sort of Unitarian heaven was not as awesome as it could have been.

Still, I feel like the development of the characters, all in all, is what kept going back, even though the last two seasons left me going 'huh?' more often than I wanted to, and the characters stayed true to the end. On that score, I'm glad I followed this show and will miss it.

My one big gripe is that the quasi-magical/quantum-physicsyness of the island never gets touched on in the finale--it just seems to be there.

And what happened to Walt, Michael, and the dog? Shouldn't Walt they be on their way to big sky country along with the rest of them?

Never seen this series, so perhaps it's something I should take a look at now that 24 is.....*wipes away tears*.....FINISHED!

Still need to watch more of The West Wing, mind

      Spoiler alert!

Amazing series and, for me, quite a melancholic ending. I believe they all died which made it sad, though happy in another sense because they could all feel at peace, at last. I kind of wished the series would go on for a few more years.

I must be the only man in London who hasn't seen 24.

I'm with you and not--I will miss the show, but I wonder if the writers could have carried on a couple more seasons without getting utterly absurd or just plain dragging things out. On the other hand, I'll miss the characters and their strife. Definitely a melancholic ending.

Loved the show, watched the final last night. Ended in true lost style with a few questions left unanswered. I believe it was always more about the characters journey anyway rather than getting answers to the bizarre happenings.

regarding 24, I watched the first two series and couldn't take it anymore! too repetitive for me.

I agree with all you guys, I watched from the first episode and loved every minute of it. I'm very sad it ended, I will certainly miss it. I did get the sense they implied they all died in the original plane crash though, and they were on an island fighting out the good/evil battle. We will probably never know lol

Still Spartacus - Blood and Sand just started 10 minutes ago, let's see how this turns out

The way I read it, Christian Sheppard's final speech to Jack (and Hurley's chat with Ben about being a great number 2) implied that they were all alive on the island, but their life in LA was purgatory--some of them lived longer than others afterward, but they all met up in this clearing house called Los Angeles before moving on to the bright light.

So I think the island was real, and everything they did there was real as well, but the 'happier' lives were not, and it was Hume and Hurley's job to bring them back to their memories of one another and be united because they chose one another.

Interesting stuff, though it ejects all of the quantum physics, which was also interesting stuff. Loads of unanswered question. Loads.

I think that is the reason for why the series was so special.

unanswered questions = gripping = addiction = Lost...

Of course the characters and the setting were equally to blame. I still remember the very first episode of the 1st series... good times.

I'm annoyed. I always said that it needed to have the biggest payoff in history for the amount of time invested in watching it and we've been severely let down by all the unanswered questions. Great series, though.

An interesting read for those who've seen the finale (don't read if you haven't yet and are going to): http://inheritedtigers.blogspot.com/...ce-speaks.html

enjoyed Lost all the way through, I felt the ending was a bit shite but all in al not overly bothered as the show was so good.

24 -I bloody love this, just seen the last episode tonight which is a shame but there will be a movie so its all good.

Lee - Blood and Sand is really good I saw it a few weeks ago, ended up watching the whole lot over the bank holiday weekend fantastic stuff!

That is an interesting read, and one of the better ways of spinning the details than I've seen.

I wasn't expecting much from the ending--I figured that the ending of this show was basically caught up in a Catch-22. If they explained everything, no explanation would have been as interesting as the build up to the explanation. On the other hand, if they didn't explain anything, the disappointment would have been absurd.

And after you invest so much into a group of characters, how does one end it? Think of the Sopranos--abrupt ending, but I thought it was brilliant if, all the same, sort of a let down. I think what's good about both endings is that they force us to think about the meaning of the show more than if they had tried to explain it.
