Am I in trouble today or am I a minority and should apply for the fair and open positions? I am white, middle-aged, smoke cigars, generally politically incorrect, (although I am conservative), swear to emphasize, question certain cultures such as... I will not start up and incite any Islamist cigar smokers, have three unfinished degrees and write a provocative weblog and haven't worked in a decent job since... how about never.

This is tricky, speaking as a minority, theres plenty of discrimination in the job market out there.
I was watching one of these politics shows on the BBC a few weeks a go and i heard it mentioned that as a minority, according to some stats (sorry cant remember the source) I will have to attend 16 interviews for every one that my equivalent white British counterparts will have to, before I get an equivalent place, where the chances are I will get paid less.
Being unemployed while writing this I have been to over a dozen interviews since February got to the final interview on 4 occasions but have been unsuccessful every time, and on one occasion I got a strong feeling that one of the interviewers didn't like the look of me as soon as I walked into the room. I tell myself that its due economic climate but I cant help think I have been discriminated against to some extent.
So something like this may do something to balance the inequality issue but there will always be displacement, in this case white British males. Theres also the question of getting the best person for the job, whereby closing the gates for some, will always remain.
I genuinely believe in equality for all, but achieving this is very idealistic and unrealistic.Lover of fine Cubans since 2006
