    Advice, please.

Now I've got a decent phone, is it worth bothering with Twitter?

I spend a good deal of time mucking about on forums, and so on.

Will I be wasting even more time?

I only want to do so if it's amusing and worth connecting.

Do you have to lob in status updates as on Facebook?

I tried once with my old phone and didn't see the point of it.

      Ta, mate.

I've just put the same enquiry on Facebook and a mate who has a site for his online bass lessons has said it's a great networking tool for him.

      I have nothing for sale.

You don't have to do any updates yourself. Having an account is the easiest way to keep in one place those you follow.
I choose who I follow for various reasons. Some amuse me, some are updates on websites I like, some are real-life friends. When I update my blog I post a link, as well as the typical "Facebook status" type updates.

You don't have to actually DO anything. Consider it a news feed of stuff you choose if you like...

To quote the great Ricky Gervais:

              Could Britain be...
              ....shitter?

Says it all about modern blog-life really. I mean is anyone's life really enriched by knowing what Chris Moyles had for lunch

Really don't understand the appeal of Twitter. I try to go back and use it every now and then but soon stop from boredom.

Bry: As said it's basically Facebook status updates. And that's it.

I'd recommend looking for other twitter users who you might find interesting. Other musos, people whose politics or views you agree with, etc. I'm quite partial to Derren Brown and GuardianNews.

It's more likely you'll just see an interesting site or person has a feed and add it. It will grow. It's not instant gratification sorry.

So I just have to look at this stream of tweets?

                            Weird.
