Will certainly have to upgrade my alb and cassock now!rokkitsci

Uh oh, this could be interesting. Be sure and let us know when you have the turning water into wine trick working.
T."In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock!"

I've always thought that the Englsih SHOULD celebrate their national day more. I jsut can't see why it's not a national holiday as in Ireland.
In Scotland, the government is actually trying to make our national day during the summer instead of November and turn it into a national holiday. Businesses are objecting, of course, as they think the drones have too many days off already! No man has the right to fix the boundary of a nation.
No man has the right to say to his country, "Thus far shalt thou go and no further."

Just watched a BBC clip of the BNP launching their manifesto today. I read all the chat about St George on this thread and then saw Nick Griffin, the BNP leader, with a man dressed up as St George on the podium next to him throughout his speech.

Oh dear. Yes the radio said the BNP would launch its manifesto today, I gave it not further thought but I supposed he is on the news, maybe I will go to the gym and give the tele a total miss then.

The sun's just come out so I'm going to put on a knotted hanky, roll up my trouser legs and sit in the garden with a cup of tea. Is that English enough?
On a more serious note the BNP can fuck right off up their tight little arses!Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

Couldn't agree more. Fuck right off.
I have to say the St George flag (the one on our banner) gives me the creeps because of its association with the BNP and Brit Nazis.
I may be in a minority. I don't know.
It makes me shiver to see it flying from car windows and the like.
Still... Tomorrow isn't St George's Day...

In the late 70's and early 80's the nazi's took over the union flag but we got it back. Same for the cross of St.George. To regard it as symbolic of the sieg heiling loonies is falling for their nonsense. It is the flag of the English it was at Crecy and Agincourt and it is today. The popularity of the BNP is labour's fault and should not be be a cause for shame of our nationality or our flag.

It's also the anniversary of Shakespeare's birthday AND death.
I'm not too bothered about some ancient levantinite slaying a mythical beastie, but might later spark up an Upmann Sir Winston in celebration of the bard - after my curry & Czech pilsner.

It flies without shame or prejudice everyday from our Village's church tower; except for St Andrew's day, St David's and St Patrick's where the respective national flags fly, which is great - but I can't see that tradition repeated across other parts of the UK outside Engalnd today, guess we English really are that popular! LOL!Enquiring Minds need to Herf!

And just to challenge those stereotypes for the Daily Mail readers, I'm a Social Worker for my local council and I reckon that the council chaps who threatened the Rt Hon Mr Nub are utter nutjobs FFS. And all of my colleagues would say the same.
