  • The Hurt Locker

Lately, I have gone to a few movies to catch up. Hollywood is producing more based on truth films, however, they neddlessly add the bs for more ticket sales.

Nevertheless, I highly recommend The Hurt Locker, which is a man's film, not a chick flick, although some women might want to see it because it was directed by a woman, Kathryn Bigleow. Avatar Cameron's ex-wife.

It's about three members of the American Army's elite Explosive Ordnance Disposal. It grabbed my interest and kept me in suspense. Of course there are a few questionable scenes — perhaps the screenwriter Mark Boal, a freelance writer who was embedded as a journalist with the bomb squad, was influenced by Lala Land producers.

It was ok, but I think "The Green Zone" is a little better, until it gets a bit silly. I suggest the book the Green Zone is based on, now that should open some eyes.

I thought The Hurt Locker was a good film, but not worthy of Best Picture as it won.

Thought it was a good film, built atmosphere and kept things nice and tense on screen. I thought it conveyed really well what it would be like to be operating in a foreign country where most people dont want you and you have no idea where the attack could come from.

            Much kudos to soldiers.

jdawg, what movie do you think should've won?

moppy... you are spot on. It is far from being boring nor is it a kid's film. Furthermore, since it was filmed in a Middle Eastern country it also had the actors and crew on edge, regardless. Jordan is filled with Palestinians that are not pro-America as one would think.

Afterward, I smoked a full-bodied Punch to give me a kick and relax me. And that is not an oxymoron.

I enjoy action films and westerns, but stories about people enthuse me even more. I have not seen Avatar and am not in a rush. My choices for best film. 1) Crazy Heart 2) Last Station 3)The Hurt Locker.

HL did a good thing in drawing attention to the unbelievably brave work of EOD personnel but there were some wild liberties taken by the producers from a real world, technical point of view.

I liked the Hurt Locker and was glad it won the awards rather than the Smurf movie
