Well chaps, it has now come to pass that I have joined the ranks of the unemployed! What a bummer! Looks like my buying will be severely constrained for a while.

It's a bummer indeed. I lost my job last monday before Easter.
Amazingly, I worked over on saturday because there was so much work.
300 tonnes of steel went back to the stockholder because the company that's taken us over can't cope.. the office staff kept their jobs but all the lads were sent down the road.
as the yanks might say "Go figure".Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

Sorry about that, Sir.
You were travelling to Ireland for your job, weren't you?
At work we've had compulsory redundancy processes for the last four years and I've survived once more. I found that out just before the current two weeks off. It scares the collective shit out of all of us at work and it is awful to see good colleagues depart. The dole threat has become part of my working life and it has made me start to look forward to retirement. Loyalty evaporates like a balloon with a slow leak when you know you might be dispensed of next time.
I hope it's not too long before you are back on a new payroll.

T."In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock!"

Sorry about the news guys.
Been in same position for over a year now. Not easy to struggle by either financially or mentally.
I'm lucky that those around me help keep my spirits up, and I have managed to carry out a pile of repairs etc to house, car etc. so have made savings there.
Sadly the Cuban collection has suffered bigtime, only managed to buy 15 in last 6 months so stocks getting low. However, things will get better, I appreciate what I have more and my health must be improving on the cigar rationing scheme
Keep positive guys.
All the best.
