  • Spooky?

We have a digital baby monitor which we use, surprisingly, to monitor our 5month son whilst in bed. It has proved very helpful in terms of being able to see if the wee fella stirs: you can pop up quick time and settle/get the dummy in etc, before he gets feisty.

Last night my wife suddenly exclaimed she saw something drift past the screen. The camera is side-on to the cotbed and about three feet away. She was very flustered and went straight up, checked him out and came down. She claims she saw a small fuzzy globe move across the screen diagonally from left to right. I couldn't explain it, but she felt it may have been something of a supernatural nature, a spirit perhaps? Our son did have an unsettled night and didn't sleep particularly well; he missed his six o'clock feed this morning. He also didn't wake us with his usual loud baby babble at this time. A bit odd. We have often joked about seeing something and how it would freak us out. Well, she reckons she did last night! We've never had any bad 'vibes' in the home.

I've had two previous spooky encounters in my life, which I haven't been able to explain. Anyone else, or would anyone care to comment?

      hey cj121,
there's a common thought that babies are born 'without veils', that their perception to the spirit world is 'open'! my son, when he was born (07.07.07), would cry quite hysterically, then just stop! sometimes it looked like he was following someone around the room with his gaze! this freaked my missus out, which was odd because she's into runes, tarot etc (i suppose we're both quite 'hippy' like, lol), you would've thought she'd be excited and fascinated!

      all the best,

      alex

Hey CJ, while I understand some people may be unsettled by this sort of thing, I'm afraid I'm more sceptical and tend to think there must be a more rational explanation.
When you say small orb, what size is small?
Also diagonally from l to r going up or down?
Looking at your screen describe room from l to r, ie windows, doors etc.. I'm sure there'll be an explanation. Don't you or Mrs CJ get in a panic about it.

On a lighter note, what's a digital baby?

I imagine it was just a piece of dust that caught the light as it passed the camera - that's what I'd put it down too.

I hope I never have any bloody spooky experiences...! Please tell us your others?!

Sorry to burst the spooky bubble but (bubble butt ...no, that's something else?) the amount of equipment on the same 2.4ghz band as baby monitors is massive and interference is common.

Also be aware that the signal can be received by simple equipment outside your house. Sometimes used by burglars to tell when a house is empty, take this into account when positioning your camera.

Re size, this would be hard to guestimate as I've advised my wife: it could have been something large but far away, or small and up close. I'm of the opinion it was a dust type thing myself. The screen is about5cm wide by 3.5cm height (not measured, but from memory). She drew a circle about 3mm diameter.

Re movement: This morning my wife says that what she saw, moved diagonally from left to right (floaty), with a slight hiccup a third across. I said "you're moving the goal posts now my dear!" but she had given it some thought she maintains.

Interesting Senor R about your comments about your child screaming. OUr wee one has had a habit over recent weeks of suddenly waking up screaming for no apparent reason. There are 'night terrors' that some children get, but I've read these generally occur in older littlies.

Room and set up: cot bed is in the bay window, about two feet from our bed. Curtains are heavy blackout, and it was nightime with infra red on.

I'm not personally convinced this was anything paranormal tbh.

                  But you never know

I'm unsure myself LH, but apparently there's a whole book about them...

They look like real ones, don't they?

Im a firm believer in ghosts, ive seen several over the years starting with my grandfather way back in 1984 about 4 years after he died, to make sure id seen him, he spoke to another squaddie on my floor, who told me about it later the follwoing day, describing my grnadfather to the letter and that he saw him come out of my bunk. Around that time i used to lock my bunk door at night as i was so close to the ablutions and was fed up with drunken squaddies thinking my room was the loo!

For those of you that will coming to the BBQ i intent to have on 17th July, my house has a friendly spook who is often seen in my spare bedroom, so dont be afraid!

Ive always been of the opinion that with children as young as yours, they are merely watching over them, like a guardian angel. My son used to sleep in the spare room and used to wake up screaming 'go away' he would immediatly go quiet and be sound a sleep if one of us went in that room and start again the moment you walked out. However it was short lived as i moved him into the main bedroom and we moved into his room.

Now i live alone, im often aware of someone watching me in the doorway, in my living room, and not just at night.

Silly as it may sound, i would often talk to the 'entity' and it wouldnt bother me. My 4 dogs however sometimes go nuts. As long as its not a poltergeist i guess this 'thing' your wife saw on the monitor may have been the 'orbs' you hear so much about, which by all accounts would be appearing but not to the naked eye.

Not much help i know, but there my thoughts..

I, too, am most skeptical when it comes to all this ghost talk. Pure rubbish. The baby is clearly telekinetic.

                          More than skeptical!
                          Come on chaps!Seriously?

I guess all that spooky thing would go away if you just stand in there and light up some tasty stogie?
                          You never know,but might help

Just kidding, but it is damn true that our mind sometimes can play us good jokes.

Ive had a few unexplained experiences, but feel that by going into them many would think I'm nuts so I tend to keep these to myself...
