So let me see if I've got this right.

You needed to examine the fan eh and to make sure it was sticky you used some wd40. Then you had a couple of squirts then stuck your hand in the box and got a stiffy. And as you were wearing rubber your wife was impressed and wants you to stick it in a few more times.

Oh sorry, must learn not to scan but to read the whole article. Thought I was on my other forum there for a minute.

Seriously glad you escaped any serious injury.

              Live!

Glad to hear you are OK Mark. I am always wary where live juice is concerned.

When I was a kid one of the neighbours fried himself alive while installing a light in his loft. Left a wife and two kids, all for a bit of DIY!

Christ man be careful! Glad you're OK. When I was a child I touched the element in an electric fire and got a shock up my arm. Quite disturbing.

[EDIT] For those who don't know, RCDs for portable appliances are only ?8 from B&Q...

                    Glad your'e ok Boss.

I recall a borrowing an electric hedge trimmer from a friend, successfully unravelled the cable, plugged it in and successfully cut through the cable on switching it on! But hey, I'm a determined chap, so spent an hour re-wiring the trimmer with the rest of the cable, switched it on to make sure it works and hey presto....cut through the cable again onswitching on...the result is that I am the proud owner of a pair of manual hedge cutters and my friend never quite understood how his 5 mtre cable had shrunk to 2 foot when i gave him it back

When I was 4 my mum told me not to put her knitting needles into the mains socket ....well we all know what happened next. Now I have a degree in electronic engineering.

All joking aside be careful out there, electricity can kill
