My dad is a modern warfare buff. His dad was killed in the WWII.... however when we did the tour of the normandy beaches we did it in an itallian car with German marches blasting out of the tape player.... even as a boy the irony was not lost on me.

A previous company I worked for was involved in building the Mulberry Harbour units. On my Company Induction day a Director of the Company cam edown to talk about its history with a nice presentation. Up pops a picture of the founders first tractor and he names it etc etc. Up pops a picture of a mulberry unit and he says don't know what that is but its something we built for someone......

I've visited the beaches a few times. You get overawed by the shear scale of what those guys acheived when you're standing in the middle of the very landscape where it took place.

I had family that took part, but they never spoke about what went on.

Not sure today's generation could do what they did.
