With the World Cup coming along, it reminds me of the old "big nation-small nation" rivalry!

To the Germans, the big game is beating the Dutch and vice versa. To the Scots, the big game is beating England (at almost anything!) To the Irish, it's north and south and beating England! To the French, it's beating England and Germany. To the Danes, it's beating Tyskland (Germany).

Everybody seems to want to beat England, perhaps because of the English press?

I'm reminded of a letter from "Disgusted of Ayrshire" or something, in the Scotsman newspaper in 1996 after Germany beat England. Now I'm paraphrasing here, but it went soemthing like,

    Sir,

I was in Gretna on the evening that England were beaten by Germany and I was disgusted to see four Scottish men coming out of a pub and singing "Deutscland ?ber Alles!" Do we not teach history in school any more?

Well, yes we do and that is probably why they had the shirts on!

The arrogance of the Englsih media is only superceded by the crassness of the red tops. I, personally, will be cheering for USA when they play England and I'll be doing it to shut up the likes of "the Sun" and John Motson.

Unfortunately for England, I have a distinct feeling that without the likes of Beckham, they'll be home before their postcards....

      Oh yeah, rugby league.....

Stop the game, stick the ball between your legs and try and run again. Form a small scrum, put in the ball crookedly, try and run again. Stop the game, put the ball between your legs and try and run again!

Oh, and if you haven't score by the time you've put the ball between you legs five times (sixth phase) give the ball to your opponments so they can run a little, put the ball between the legs.....you get the idea.

Rugby league. A game for men without the skill to play "real" rugby! I await your responses!

              Amen brother.

Someone should bomb Shucks with a propper England strip then he can look the part.

Also England were good for 5 minutes then went to rat shit as usual.

Hope the next game is better.

What!? Okay, so aside from the fact that the Yankee-doodle-dandees are reigning Olympic rugby champions... (okay, I suspect about two other people knew that)... Tonight (as it is now in England), you will observe England's 2nd XV pasting the USA test side across the pitch at Glendale... A suburb of Denver (and stadium) which, I have to add, I have visited whilst on a rugby referees' tour to Colorado...

If England's 2nd XV do not win by at least 15 points, any American based member may forward their address to me for a cigar delivery...

With all due respect ! The English team sucked azz today !!!!
I had expected more from a team with so many loyal fans .
And luck has nothing to do with a victory . 1 England 1 USA
Won't be anything cheery about it Shucks .... a gold-certed, one-sided walk-over .... but we will feel sorry about it!
