Don't know how to head this thread, really, but it's nice to get pleasant surprises.

Rehearsed in Sandwich Thursday evening with a guy I last played with a couple of years ago for a dep gig this coming Friday. Three of us - Guitar, Bass, Keys. Drummer couldn't make it.

Timed to finish at 10.50pm so we could get a pint at the pub across the road before closing time.

    All well and good.

The main man then said he was glad I liked a drink because he didn't like people without vices.

I said I don't mind a drink but don't drink too much... but that my main 'vice' lol is Havana cigars.

"Why didn't you bring some over? We're really into Havanas! People always give me them! Look!".

And he had a couple of boxes sitting in his sideboard.

I described my humi. They smiled like goons - and were so interested about Havana, too.

It was getting on a bit by now, but next time if I dep again, rehearsals will be over cigars.

(And once not too long ago I would never have mentioned my liking for cigars...).

    Passion.

I have worked with a few lads in the past who I would never have suspected were into smokes, and been pleasantly surprised when I have realised they are avid cigar smokers.

I don`t think you can ever define a "cigar man" simply by looks alone, but I agree that it is nice to come across someone who shares a similar passion to yourself for cigars.

A rarity though. I don't have a problem admitting I'm into cigars. People often look at me odd though - I think they only expect someone well off and over 50 to enjoy a cigar.

Most of my mates dabble since I brought up my hobby. It's good to spread the love.

I'll try not to take that as an insult Deano !!

[QUOTE=patrickspark;72236] People often look at me odd though - I think they only expect someone well off and over 50 to enjoy a cigar.

With me it's women usually .... but then, they always have anyway ... but only because I make Tom Cruse look ordinary!

thats all very well and good robusto, but tell me...

how the friggin hell do you smoke and play at the same time?!?!!

i've tried time and time again only to get smoke trapped in all the wrong places, thoroughly disrupting my creative juices from flowing. im convinced writing songs could well be aided by a fine cuban and im trying to convince my accountant too (shes still not buying it)

at the moment I can just about get away with smoking a really old stogie with perfect burn that I can sit down for a couple of minutes and it still be lit once ive finished the middle 8. BUT MIDDLE 8s TAKE TOO LONG!!

im thinking of rigging one of these badboys up to fit a girthy cuban just to make this work...

That looks like some special-niche truss you have there, Lasc!
                Keep pushing it out!

Bloody hard to play keys and toke a fat one. I'm not very practised, although I do go at it home alone sometimes.

Problem with cigars is if you can't get them out of your mouth, they end up invading your nostril space. I don't want to snuff it at the piano.

I once posted a vid of myself playing Blues and juggling a fat one on here but I became self-conscious and whipped it off.

                I can't remember discovering decorum.

When I left my Hotel in Hampstead yesterday, I decided to start the drive home with a nice P2...

needless to say, the traffic was slow driving through Hampstead and I got a few stares what with me driving through the town in my astra van with a large cuban in my gob..LOL
