  • The Music You Smoke One Off To

So what do you like in your ears in the background as you munch a fat one?

    Specific artist
    Genre

    I'll start.

If I'm in the house on my own, I've often smoked a fine one off to Massive Attack.

If I'm down in my shack, I'm usually toking to Radio 4 and not to music.

Other preferred sounds to smoke to are:

    Vaughan Williams
Penderecki - cigar and Penders is great if you're close to a nervous breakdown
    Rolling Stones
    The Deftones
    Pavarotti
    Joni Mitchell
Bruce Hornsby's mid 80s albums - mellow US rock-ish stuff. Top piano
    Haydn
Mozart Requiem - for a very dramatic smoke-out
I think Country music is fantastic to cigar-out to, especially if you have a choice of appropriate headgear
Queen is quite good cigar music, too

    And you?

Depends on my mood. If I'm chilled when I start smoking then it's a playlist of chilled out Incubus tracks. If I'm wired I'll start with Dream Theater and probably finish off with Incubus. I also have an old Maynard Ferguson CD that takes a hammering while I smoke lol. I recently downloaded the Cadbury's big swap songs album that I'm saving for the weekend.

And of course there's the occasional military band CD...always my own band though!

And an edit: Not sure how I forgot, but I have a fair few pieces by Rachmaninov that I love smoking to.

After watching a film and having a few drinks, i like to top off the night in the freezing consevatory (if you can call it that) with a smoke and my mp3 player pluged into speakers on random shuffle, so it could be anything from RUN D.M.C. to Frank Sinatra realy, ive got quite a varying taste in music lol

If i'm out walking the dog at night, if i'm listening to anything, it would have to be a good audio book, it is amazing how carried away you can get walking for miles, not really thinking too much and enjoying a cigar. That is until you realise you had better turn round and head back to time the finish off the walk and cigar at the same time.

If i'm smoking in the garden i'm generally chilling out so i'll echo massive attack, particularly Teardrop. Otherwise Zero 7 on a random playlist or some movie soundtrack music by Hans Zimmer.

Although if i'm experimenting with a new cigar i like to mix things up with a little radio 1. I like a stronger cigar with something with a bit of a beat to it and a milder cigar with chill out music.

I only smoke at night, so exclusively night time music when smoking for me. Which is a mix of:

          - Leonard Cohen
          - Sigur Ros
          - Rodrigo y Gabriela
          - Tom Waits
          - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

All good bands to check out if youve never heard anything by them. PM me if you would like an idea of what albums to listen to etc.

                        - The Clash

I smoke mostly in the car or the porch, so no accompaniment or Radio 4 when the radio still worked.
