Given that this forum is hosted on servers that reside within the US shouldnt we also refrain from any sort of discussion around cubans for the same "legal difficulties" reason that was mentioned earlier?
I think it's perfectly legal for anyone in the US to discuss, fantasise, solicit or do anything they like regarding cuban cigars .... except own any!
Muchachos...there was a time (BPA - Before Patriot Act) when you could legally possess Cuban Cigars in the USA - ya' just couldn't import or bring them into the Country.
Back in those dayz, you also could partake in Cuban products outside of the US. Sadly, the PA put an end to that, too.

Whilst internet data law is still in it's infancy nearly all cases seem to be focused on the data owners country of trade/residence rather than the server location. Some law enforcement situations have led to trying to address the server issue but it is a bit of a moot point with cloud computing and all.
If the US govt was really concerned, and it was cost effective to direct the resources, and they could justify it legally (i.e. - what actual law is being broken by discussion?) they might write to the server hosting company asking them to remove the content and we would find a non-US based server to host from.
Overall it is very unlikely (if at all possible) this would lead to any real problem.

We don't have to walk on eggshells regarding discussing Cuban cigars on this site or in the UK???
What we cannot discuss is any purchasing (or suppliers) that may be construed as encouraging / aiding and abetting tax/duty evasion in the UK as there is a very real possibility of the data owners (Deano, mods etc) being held liable and charged with an actual crime in the UK. This is regardless of where in the world the site is hosted.
I am surprised this needs to be repeated again and i am not sure what there is not to understand?
Personal rant coming up, please do not take offence - I am shocked by those of you who continue to test this rule. It is not your neck on the line and IMHO you should show more respect to those whom it is.
If the rules of this forum are really so unacceptable I am sure there are other places to post?

At least some people stick up for the site when I'm not around.
Quite seriously I am fed up with it.
This isn't about politics and rule making, we're meant to be discussing cigars. Talking constantly about evading customs and duty, and off shore suppliers will only get me in trouble, not you. If you want to do this, go elsewhere.
Simply put, get back to discussing cigars otherwise sod off somewhere else.
Themz the rulez, and if you don't like them, close the door on your way out.
Sorry guyz, please forgive me if I have understood something wrong, but I think that what Boss Hog wrote was in favor of the administration group and for their protection! We've discussed thoroughly about it and I am sure you'll have the chance to show that you are taking these rules seriously!
Deano, I am admin in a really big community for more than six years. I guess you won't get advices from someone younger than you, but this is from someone more experienced than you. If you want this forum to be successful, pay the proper attention to its members and their needs, of course by keeping yourself safe at the same time. Dividing this place is the worst thing you can do and as I can observe it has already begun and you should stop it.
