If anyone's interested, I went for the HTC Desire in the end. Turned up today and so far I'm pretty chuffed with it.

One of my friends got this recently, had a play around with it for a few minutes, very smooth. And the AMOLED screen isnt as bad in the sun as I thought it would be.

I've got an HTC Hero. I went for that over the iphone 'cos it does java and flash. Very pleased with it.

I've got a Viewty. Battery life is garbage. A 20 minute call and you'd be looking for the charger. Even if you don't use it, you'll be charging it again after 14 hours! Avoid!!!

'4G' is referring to the 4th generation of the iphone, not the network type.
