    Ditto, cray.

My wife's in bed with full flu so tonight will be Taramasalata and other pots of gunk with cocktail sausages and Scotch eggs. Chilled cabinet crap. Or maybe take-away.

I am thoroughly lazy as far as "cooking" is concerned but I will enjoy reading what you guys say you are preparing and will dream that I'm eating it!

Tonight will be rib-eye steak on the griddle served with rocket salad, potato wedges*, red wine reduction & something garlicky (mushrooms, baked tomatoes, butter bean mash etc)

[* Always used to serve frozen oven chips til I 'discovered' how to do these: medium skin-on potatoes cut length-ways in to 8+, mixed in a bowl with drizzle of olive oil & seasonings (eg choice frrom s&P, paprika, chilli powder, dried herbs) on a baking tray (I try to stand them on their skins) in a 200-220C oven for 30+ minutes. Will never buy another bag of McCains]

Theres a McCains factory about 5 miles west of where i live, when the winds blowing in my direction the stench of curdling rotting starch becomes noticable... It STINKS !!! you do right by making your own, i do the same...

Yes home made-wedges are great: so tasty, easy, cheap & healthy.

I know that starchy smell well - used to live a couple of miles from the old Beafeater distillery next to Wandsworth Bridge (potato starch was used for brewing the alcohol) and when the wind was in the right direction it was like hanging around outside a school kitchen.

I'm just about to make a beef curry to eat after the rugby.
May have to indulge in a post victory smoke too.

Suffering from jealously, love truffles, love risotto (Italian food and Italy in general) and love good food.
Simple roast pork & crackling tonight but out in Edinburgh for dinner after Murrayfield tomorrow. Going to have to be upmarket Italian after reading your post.
The scrambled egg idea also sounds a winner.

I got a posh bread making machine last week and have been baking everyday since.

                          nice tart there monkey,
dust a bit of icing sugar over the top would finish it off nicely.
