  • What are you cooking / eating today

I know there are a few keen foodies / cooks on the forum and thought it may be interesting to share our common gluttony.

I'm gonna kick of with a big one as I had a little delivery in the post today for tomorrows dinner.

Black truffles that were nestling under a tree in an Italian mountain yesterday, arrived by UPS this morning and by tomorrow evening will be freshly shaved over my risotto. By storing them in the rice for 24hrs they will infuse the rice nicely. Like to treat ourselves to a truffle dinner once a year or so.

Can't decide if tonight will be hot buttered groat clusters or deep fried goat custards.

When I first saw that thumbnail picture of the truffles I thought you had a jar containing some smaller versions of Rokkitsci's infamous Turkmenistani Ballaboostas!

Don't think I've ever tried truffles unless you count the chocolate kind.

Tonight is going to be beef jerky night for me. The boxing is on and that means beer and salty snacks. I'll wake up completely dehydrated but it'll be worth it.

Not really a gastronomic delight but it's one of my favourite treats. Maybe I'll try one of those groat clusters...

Tonight will be whatever is quick. I won't be home till about 9 and I NEVER eat in the airport!

The airport is for drinking, definitely not for eating.

A simple pasta carbonara type dish with some smoked salmon slithers thrown in at the end and a watercress salad.

I'd be shaving some of those truffles over my scramble egg in the morning too. Yum!

Truffles are definitely something special, bit of an acquired taste I find, much to my disappointment when I persuade a friend to try it!

I made pork/prawn bao today, was amazing. Made a great vinegar & ginger dipping sauce to go with them. Was very impressed with myself :P

All the recipes I looked at for bao are steamed. I've only just found 1 recipe for pow which is also steamed.

Only thing I can think of, is that they're the same thing, just a difference in translation like Peking / Bejing?
