Through Facebook, I know that Drewmidorn and Larrysputnik have created ReverbNation sites. I know Lascaux has some stuff on YouTube.

As a number of us seem to enjoy the pungency of the cigar as well as making music, I thought it might be interesting for us to gather some links here of UKCF musician members' styles and interests.

We have variously posted things before but let's see if we can put everything together here and keep it!

Any undeclared musicians on the site please feel free to post your playing and writing here.

A long, long time ago in a Galaxy far, far away I used to be a gigging musician and full-time writer/producer. Never quite made it but still like to play occasionally. My true passion is blues (I was writing/producing pop) and that gets better with age but my fingers are now soft so end up taking chunks out of them when I play. I used to be passable on bass, keys, trombone, clarinet and drums. Still just about know my way round a desk (studio and live) and FX / compressors etc. Back in the day worked on some nice kit (Neve, SSL's, 2" 24tr, ProTools, Logic etc.)

Last time I did any gigging (about 6 years ago) was with a jazzy trio doing standards (singer, upright bass, piano) playing some nice gigs including a slot at The Jazz Cafe. (did about three months of training for that to get back up to speed).

For those who are interested pictured are a LOAM Dobro style resonator purchased in San Fransisco in the 90's (set up for slide in open D or G). Japanese Takamine Jumbo cutaway from 1989. USA Strat Plus 1991 and a small 1/2watt valve amp in a Fender Champ chassis with a Weber vintage speaker. I built this amp and it is point to point hand wired with cotton wrapped, waxed solid core wire (old school).

I LOVE Blues playing and am primarily a keyboard player. I like to sing and have a passable voice.

I have just bought a Yamaha acoustic guitar from a colleague. A big dreadnought of a beast. It has great tone and stays in tune and I'm finding it easy to form and change chords. I'll put a snap and the model number up later. I am a strummer. I don't understand the fretboard for solos.

I'm trying to swap keys/piano lessons for acoustic guitar lessons in my corner of Kent so I don't have to fork up any cash and will hopefully find somebody who is equally committed.

I've just written on the TJ post that I've been asked to join a band run by a bass player I have great respect for who has a really imaginative project on the go which will see the band playing live on the Internet. That might seem old hat,but I'm totally bored of playing functions and pub gigs. I've had enough of that. This chap's YouYube videos have had more than one million hits! Pretty popular, therefore.

It's going to require a lot of improvisation - and I love that!

I'm sitting in my Music classroom at work writing this in a free period. I've built up all the kit I need to get kids to have a crack at playing and performing. When the conditions are right, this is one of the coolest of jobs...

I'd like to light up a Duke - I'm in the mood - but I'd get slaughtered here if I were to do that. I'll just have to put the puffing spree off til later.

I gig locally, play drums and sing, blues/rock stuff. Started as a music major for undergrad. Also play Jazz. Most of my spare time is devoted to this biz., however, which is about to get a major face lift. The site started as a hobby, now sucking up every spare moment.

The pianist on that CD is Ben Waters. I started to brick it a bit when I looked him up on YouTube as he is SEVERAL MILLION times better on the joanna than I am! LOL!

Thank God some of the tunes are not this manic for the gig and I can do my own simpler justice to them.

I won't be Ben Waters because I can't be, but I'll be OK enough for the Hat's Off tracks which are more laid-back.

The NBZ Hat's Off album is fantastic! The guitar sounds like deep deep shit. It's wonderful
