I am indeed a percussionist, one of two, and am awaiting promotion. I've been selected, done the command course, and in December this year I'll become a lance corporal; so my humi will have something special in it by then to celebrate; although I'll be in the middle of a 2 month support tour in Germany by then!

I think it'd be safe to say we play pretty much exactly the same as the Marines lmao. Although at work I play anything to classical overtures, through big band (classic and modern, Dordon Goodwin and the like), traditional 'dixie' jazz, even heavy rock like Muse! It's a varied job, and the travel I've enjoyed in the past 7 or 8 years has been beyond belief!

Deal was a tragedy; but it's amazing that many people still believe they're safe in the bands. The school in Deal was just one of many military musical units attacked, with all 3 arms of the service affected (Marines/Navy in Deal, RAF in Germany and Army bands attacked in Hyde park amongst other places).

If you're hankering after being able to sit out and listen to a military musical school, may I suggest moving to Twickenham lmao? A stone's throw from the Rugby stadium is the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall. A stunning building where they train my corps, the Corps of Army Music (CAMus).

In a time forward from here, we could herf with a PA. All of us who like to play.
It would have to be an overnighter to allow for the piss up (responsible, of course) afterwards.
I find it very difficult to work a fat cigar and play the keys but I'm prepared to practise it and get skilled.

Shit. Let's make an in our dreams set list...

Just back from an audition / first reheasal with a new band of capable musicians that I am going to (and was invited to) commit to. Impressed with how easily we gelled and what the aims of the band are. Material fits my fingers and NOBODY intends to do a single gig the pub circuit. Mightily relieved!

Feeling good. Smoked a celebratory Cohiba on the way home.

          Regular rehearsals here we come.

                  Cool Hab Hab.

I've got some practice mp3s which are riven with faults. I'll see if I can download and upload one for the hell of it. I'm very self-deprecating yet comfortable in my skin. If I don't upload here it's because I can't.

BITTER SWEET posted a KEYBOARDS WANTED ad on a Kent muso listings site on April 1st.

More ways to check out what you'd cop for, including some fab mp3s, HERE.

Shit. I've done my first Wing.

                      And now I've sorted it.

A fine April 1st moment BITTER SWEET is.

"I'm Gonna Love You A Little Bit More" mp3 is particularly savoury.

Here is feedback from a recent wedding...

                        "Hi Lee,
Thanks for everything. You did a great job. Everyone who's
spoken to us said they thought you were brilliant. I don't
remember a great deal of it in detail but seem to recall
that I enjoyed it. I was pleased to see that the
dancefloor was full pretty much all evening and that can't
                        be a bad thing!"

                        Re-arrange:
                        course - the - par - for - fucking

How to earn yourself 25 fat Cuban pacifiers whilst having a brilliant night.

                          1. Take phone call out of the blue from a previous X Factor finalist
                          2. Learn 18 Rod Stewart covers on your tod
                          3. DO NOT meet the band in advance
                          4. DO NOT rehearse before playing
                          5. PLAY the songs with first class vocals at a paid function
                          6. Have a fucking ball because the band is fantastic and the punters are going nuts
                          7. Observe the women young and old all queue up to have their pictures taken with Ben
                          8. Receive email welcoming you on board Simply Rod and asking to book you again
                          9. Be astounded at how normal and how un-ballsed up the guy is after that show
I could keep going, but in short I am playing with top class bass, drums and guitar - and vocals - here.

On Sunday, I rehearsed with my writing band buddies, and that was sweet as well.

It's great when it's great. (And it's not teaching!).

                          So...

I deserve a new box of brown sugars for adoring myself and stroking it and I'm clicking me them online tonight.
