  • UK to review smoking ban

This year the UK government will review the English smoking ban. I am hoping they become less strict and allow smoking back in some pubs, especially private cigar lounges that non smokers don't even go to. but wont hold my breath about it! What are your opinions?
Smoke em if you've got em

ill hope they consider introducing smoking rooms where no staff are working in, this to me seems the perfect solution

In the states, designated some designated smoking clubs are allowed--is this not the case in the UK?

No unfortunatly in England the only places we can smoke are in cigar shops, prisons, certain long time hospital facilities and at home. Outside is no problem though.

I'm sick and tired seeing all this FREAKIN Smoking Ban. WTF! Pretty soon you will not be able to smoke in your own house, car or backyard.

Don't get your hopes up. It aint going to go our way. Not to mention that Sweden is integrating plans to eventually ban smoking altogether, so other European countries won't want to be seen as taking a step back.
Warning: Smoking cigars may cause a slow and delicious death.

Yes, the largest and most frequently used is in The Houses of Parliament. One rule for them. One rule for us!
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

I thought this had been debated in Parliament (circa late '06), and whilst it was recognised that the HoP were legally exempt, the ban did come into effect. They have designated areas: various terraces outside. I might be wrong though.

The 2010 review was statutorily identified back in '06 and I reckon don't hold your breath. Well, unless you've inhaled some smoke and are walking through a pub, bar, three sided public 'building' et al.

great outcome : It gets removed altogether

favorable outcome: Can smoke in pubs and designated areas, much more lenient

typical UK outcome: will NOT be in our favour in any way shape or form

Or simply Let restaurant, club and pub owners choose for themselves. As for staff in fear of passive smoking, as far as I'm aware no one is forced down mines or up chimneys anymore!

Wouldn't it be great if the laws were relaxed and a designated smoking area in pubs, clubs, restaurants and private lounges was re-instated...

                              However...

Like the general consensus on here, I expect it will just get worse...!!!

                              Cheers, HabanoSy
