  • Live in an hotel

    Hi guys,

I could be in a new job soon and the job is in the same city as me, however, it's at the other side of the city. So it's pretty far from me. Anyway, I'm thinking of just booking in a nearby hotel and just commuting to work from there everyday. Makes it easier plus I get lots of luxuries lol.

Anyway my question is this: As anyone ever done this before and are there any discounts for staying there for a long period of time? Actually, I should imagine that's at the discretion of the hotel.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Congrats on the new job. As you said that's on the discretion of the hotel owner...
Talk to them and choose the best value for money!

I live in Scotland but work in Dublin during the week. I stay in a hotel for four nights a week. With the state of the hotel industry at the moment, you should be able to negotiate a good deal if you're staying regularly.

You can get serviced apartments which are similar, might work out better for you. Gonna be expensive though!

Well - it's not much a night for a room (not forgetting they may offer discount) - so really it's better than living in a rented house/flat.

              In Sterling, I'm paying ?35-40 a night....

peanutpete, true. I'm gonna have a look around. I don't think there are Serviced Apartments in Newcastle-Under-Lyme. Perhaps it's best to look for a little studio apartment or something.

How much is the daily cross-town-commute for Newcasle-Under-Lyme then?

Just so I understand this correctly, you live in the same city as the new job.
Whats the problem with the travelling everyday? which city is it? it can be that big surely that you have to stay in a hotel.

It might be worth your while looking for "digs". They'll be much cheaper and if you find a decent landlady very comfortable. The theatre in Newcastle Under Lyme (the new vic) will be able to give you a digs list.

I spend a reasonable amount of time in hotels, from the clean and servicable to the ridiculously expensive and I'll be honest unless it was a really nice hotel (and I'm talking ?150 a night and up) i'd rather travel home... travel lodges etc are great but soul destroying. However there is no way that i'd stay in a hotel for that sort of money if i had to pay for i, unless I was treating my main squeeze to a weekend away in a Malmaison type of affair. lol
