  • Credit Card Fraud

Got a call from my credit card company today about a number of quick transactions showing on my credit card. I think there was eight in total ranging from ?20 to ?70 before they froze the card.

I have only used this card to buy cigars online in the last year or so.

I remember a few of the guys on here said they got some fraudulent charges after using one particular vendor which is very popular on these boards. I wont name then as I dont want to cause any legal problems for the site as I dont have any proof.

I am suspecting I have been stung by he same company as the others have mentioned, especially after there was a problem with one of my orders (remember the deal on the hoyo petit robustos that sold out).

Since part of the order was not available I ordered a different more expensive box to make up the total for the minimum order value.Well I got an email from the vendor asking me to call or email my card details to charge the extra amount as my card had already been charged the original amount and to get the cigars shipped out quickly (i needed them in a hurry).

I have placed a phone order before with one of their sister companys with no problems so thought nothing more of it.

My credit card company will take the hit for the charges so im not out of pocket but just a heads up to be weary in future.

Sorry to hear that Kam! At least, your card company reversed the charges as they should.

Thanks for the heads up Kam.

Like Drewmidron, I too am using a top up card to buy from certain vendors. No problems up to now, but still... touch wood.

That's a bummer Kdot. Pleased you won't be taking the hit though!

Trouble with e-mailing your details is .... they can be captured in transit.

If you ever need to email credit card details, split the information up into at least 2 separate mails, it's no guarantee but it could help. Also, don't mention what the numbers are in the mails, i.e. leave out any reference to credit card, card provider etc.

That's odd. I ordered the same and then said I wouldn't take them so it was refunded. Not got anything extra on my bill since. Touch wood.
