Currently reading Green Sun by Kent Anderson which is the third book based on himself. He wrote the best book about the Vietnam war (Sympathy for the Devil) in the early 70s. In 96 his Night Dogs (which is one of my favourite crime novels) was published in which he became a cop after the Vietnam war because he didn't know what else to do. Green Sun was published a couple of years ago, he is now 38 years old, just left his current job as a teacher to join the police force once more. I'm halfway through the book by now and it's a very interesting read but sadly not as good as the other two books. It's quite interesting nonetheless as Anderson's alter ego Hanson gives us his thoughts about how the police force worked in Oakland during the 80s as he tells us about his various encounters with criminals, drug addicts etc.
