  • BOTL From The USA

    Dear USA BOTL.

There seems to be an influx of American BOTL to the site this season, and welcome to you all.

Many of the Brit BOTL have visited the USA before and know it well.

I would love to know what you know about the UK.

What are your impressions of the UK?

Just asking out of curiosity and fun.

I have loved the time I've spent in New Mexico and New York. I'm a schoolteacher and was asked to talk to some classes of 16 year olds in the town where my sister lives. She became a US citizen over 30 years ago.

My experience is that US citizens often don't understand how small the UK is - and how choked the road sytems are - and that the older generation think we live in an episode of Miss Marple here.

    I'll leave it at that.

But I will emphasize that this is a thread for feelings of mutual gorgeousness, and not multi-national fisticuffs.

    Who's going first?...

As you know from the movie Vincent is talking about Holland not the UK. Or are you saying that all of Europe is the same .

Being the inventors of the Imperial measurement units we still have the Quarterpounder and the Big Mac here (despite the EU trying to change us).

I live in North East UK and i've never been to London myself, those shandy drinking southerners scare the bejesus outta me. Tbh i've done hardly any traveling due to financial restraints.

I stopped over at Heathrow for a couple hours to catch my connecting flight. I wish I had more time. I would like to see the UK someday but I don't know about the weather. I'm a California boy spoiled by the good weather and the golden sun.

I did some work with the Royal Marines in 2007 when they were here as part of a joint military exercise with the U.S. Marines before shipping out to Afghanistan. Spent a few weeks with them and they were all a good bunch of guys. We had a great time.

My wife is from your part of the world (Antioch) and has just decided that she's in for the winter. We have permafrost in out backyard at the moment. It hasn't thawed in four days and snow is expected tomorrow. I think she wishes she was near Mount Diablo now!
