  • Cigars for the Troops??

Do any of you fine BOTL know a way to get cigars to the UK troops? Just thought it would be nice to get some cigars to the guys that are stationed abroad for the holidays some cigars. I have donated to a few US drives in the past but would like to see if we can get something going from the UK.

If anyone knows where to do this, or if it's not done yet start something up, I would be game to sort it out. Maybe a UKCigarForum Package? I know we might miss Christmas but would be nice to get something together by New Year.

    Any thoughts?

If you have address's you can send direct Sean.
If you don't,the Cigar Asylum forum has two men that organize shipments to the troops all year long.
I have found with them operating as a multi-national force the cigars and goodies get spread around fairly well.
The best way to make sure soldiers from the UK receive your support is to have a address direct to one of their units.

I'll all for that too, maybe if we labelled it up as "Decent Equipment" it might get through.

I have a minor involvement with SSAFA which as an armed forces charity involved in helping current and ex service men and women and their families. Due to the MOD not being able to cope with the amount of packages sent out to the front line etc. they have approached SSAFA to set up a fund for people to donate to, which would be used for the people on the front line to decide what the troops want, so as to fairly distribute anything that is needed on the frontline. However...... this will not get the cigars.......

Hey Dave, I saw the one at Cigar Asylum from the link on CHIMP and have done a few with a some friends who just got back from deployment but didn't see a UK specific plan. BTW, welcome to the board!

Looks like there is some interest in this so I will try to find out more at the Royal British Legion down my road. If anyone should know it would be them!

If anyone is interested in this let me know or keep an eye on this space. I'll try to get over there tonight to gather intelligence and post up here. If we can't get a group package at least we can provide an address for individuals to send to.
