  • What's your morning radio show?

HERE ARE THE BBC RADIO LISTENER NUMBERS

Radio 4 The Today Programme wakes me up on the alarm at 0600 every day and stays with me to work by 0815 in the car. We rarely talk here in the morning!

Normally it's "Mornings on Classic FM with Simon Bates". Until I roll out of bed, then Sky News or BBC News goes on the TV before I leave (usually about half an hour after waking - just enough time for a cuppa).

I have been known to "Wake up to Wogan"... and should probably cram in a few more before I lose the opportunity. I've also had days when I wake up with Radio Four, or, since I got a DAB radio, BBC World Service. Sometimes even the local station (having listened to R5 through the night).

But usually it's Classic FM, simply because that's what helps me get to sleep the night before.

Radio Four is an interesting one though. I got a liking for it at Dartmouth - the Squadron Officer allowed us to listen to R4 in our cabins, despite orders being that radios were prohibited between 0700 and 1800. Needless to say, this little escapism grew on us and I do enjoy brief moments with it on the radio. Unfortunately though, the radio in my living room is only analogue, and the reception is awful (hence why I bought the DAB for the bedroom), so I have to be content with whacking the TV on for my dose of news with breakfast.

Well since mi mornings are spent sleeping after a night working i don't listen to the radio then, so when i wake and i?m of to work almost always listen to radio Radar (http://www.radarlisboa.fm/), as a online broadcast and plays most bands i like.

Unfortunately the only channel my shower radio picks up is that self-lover Chris Moyles....his team of sycophants and hangers-on make it almost bearable...as soon as I'm in the car it's R4 or Terry....

Yeah sadly, I wish it was Radio 4, but it's more Talksport drivel that I listen to in the morning.

If by some miracle I am up early on a Saturday, and I have access to the net/Sky or a DAB then I love Adam & Joe on BBC 6 Music. I used to watch these guys on Channel 4 when I was younger. They are often bloody funny, never hard work and I feel like I grew up with them.

Has to be Wake up to Wogan for me. He's a national institution.

Once thats finished I switch onto to WBLI 106.1 streamed via the web. This is a New York / Long Island station and I listen to the breakfast show with Dana, Randy & Drew. Which given the time zone I get to listen to until around 2-3pm.
The co host Randy is a overweight, 50 yr old gay bloke who can "out camp" john inman and alan carr put together, he regularly comes on to any male callers to the show and insults them when they turn him down.

I start with 5 Live but they don't last long because they are so lightweight and babble on about themselves so much. On to Radio 4 once it's late enough to miss Thought for the Day.

If i had DAB in the car I suspect Planet Rock would alternate with the Today programme. I love R4 during the day on the move.

I'm usually smoking a cigar with coffee and listening to Mad Dog Radio sports talk on XM Satelite on my way to work.
