Cuban seed

I was smoking a NC last night abd I got to thinking about how some NC companies advertise their wares as "grown from Cuban seed." Now to me, very few NCs taste like Cubans. That's not bad, just a fact and the "Cuban seed" stogies seem to taste even less!

I got to thinking the /philosophy mode on/ that this earth of ours is quite unique. You take some seeds and grow them in Vuelta Abajo and they taste great. Take the SAME seeds and grow them elsewhere and they're not so good! /philosophy mode off/

Strange stuff, when you consider that the areas this tobacco is grown are quite similar. I know about the earth and sun and microbial influence etc., but i still think it's quite wunderbar!

I don't know if you watched the James May/Oz Clarke thing on wine or not. I don't drink wine at all, but the program was fun. At one point they gave James (a "non believer") two glasses of wine made from the same grapes in the same way, however the grapes had been grown on different sides of the road! He could tell the difference..... literally 5 or six metres apart and they tasted different to someone who was anything but a wine connoisseur.

Very true Drew, its the makeup of the area, called Terrior, pronounced ter wah, or something like that, it gives the plant its own character.
