An evolution of what we already have may be the way to go.... on the left, a clearer collage of brands and bands, maybe with an addition (I quite liked the Churchill photo, he's the most famous cigar smoker in the UK!) and on the right a clearer typeface and perhaps a larger in focus cigar with the Union Jack and maybe some NC flags intertwined into the smoke half screen density, you could move it left a bit to give a little more room for the smoke!
You could have maybe an additional image in the centre (Churchill and Lonsdale!) which would give you more room for the brands/bands collage.
Or at least evolve the current format untill you have found something you like better..
Obviously I wasn't too far off the first time, with my awful photoshopping skills.
Horse's for course's, no one can be master of all trade's, and if the wheels don't turn, it's better broken down into baby steps, conceptually what we have is not too bad, Mr B can evolve this further I'm sure.
If we look at the colour scheme for instance, with what we have it's difficult to introduce the colours of the Union Jack, on this side of the spectrum it's not difficult to introduce reds through to greens, but blues look a little bold against the tone's of the rest of the page, high lighting the design/layout, that's why you need to get it almost spot on before it feels right to the eye.
I'm not sure laying sepia over a flag quite works... I'm thinking aloud here, but then again it might... the safest thing is to tweak what we have....maybe with a few additions. (forgot to add the Cuban flag into the smoke ) just a couple of cents from me....
