Not totally convinced by Tirnidad and Vegas Robaina either. Not bad cigars.... just a little dubious at the price.

I have never really got on with Punch cigars. They taste a bit generic and I find the journey lacks variation or growth and I get bored with the taste profile.

Each to their own I guess?

Partagas PSD4 ? can't get on wi' 'em.
RyJ Short Churchills ? rubbish ? and won't try a Wide or a Petite Churchills because of that
H Upmann Half Coronas ? even worse
ERdM Choix Supreme ? not very nice at all

Not a big fan of the Partagas I've smoked and didn't like the one Bolivar I tried but going to give them another try.

                Impressive thread resurrection POLO!

I know it's probably heresy, but I really do not understand the fuss around the HdM Epicure No2... I've tried many times to find one I like, given their reputation, but have yet to come across one which does it for me. Same goes for most of the Monte range, though I may just have been subject to their lack of consistency.

Hi Shane, long time no hear, how's tricks down in OT?
Agree with you on the Punch; like the Petit & the DC's but the rest don't do a lot for me. All of Fonseca, JLP but then I wouldn't call them popular cigars which was the thread question.
I used to like Hoyo DC's but have gone off them completely & I never did like the SP Sanchos, gave up after 2hrs of sucking seemingly non-flavoured smoke.
Of the main brands I guess I enjoy the R&J the least. Yes I have them & smoke them occasionally but it's more to keep variety in my smoking. The flav profile to me is distinctive but unexciting. SCC & very aged tubed Churchills are the pick of the bunch IMHO.

                  Excellent thread to revive BTW.

I don't know how popular they are, but I have never cared for the Sancho Panza Belicosos. I have had several and the flavor profile was not for me.

It's funny isn't it, we must all be looking at each others post & agreeing with some but screaming how can you not like that one! To me this explains firstly why there is such a variety of brands & vitolas out there & secondly the reason we should keep as many of that variety as the market can bare & not deleting great cigars because they might be more niche than others. Surely they can tailor production to meet the demand & unless demand becomes iminscule keep them going?

PeeJay, Party's really are one of the best brands IMHO, they might take a some getting into but really some of my best ever smokes have been Party's Try the No2, 898, Churchills & some of the LE's to give them a proper try. And Bolivar's well don't get me started! Try Coronas Gigantes with some age on it or a Belicosos Finos after a full meaty meal, with a whisky or two. If you don't like them, then maybe try them again in a few yrs, tastes change with experience.

                        Agree with partagas D4.
Short churchills are also so facking awful. But the widey is pretty good! Don't let it kill your judgement!

Why Simon? Because it needs no age to be good.
No one raves too much about Cohiba IIs because it takes a while to get it going.
Strange. Normally MC has something for everyone.
                        Ever tried a 3YO+ Monte 2?

Most of those annoying small tubos that don't come in non-tubos variations are just so bad.

Punch discontinued all their damn good ones. I do enjoy punch, royal coronations, and the DC. But only down to the 3rd 3rd. Good when young and can smoke it farther down the older it gets. Not by much though. Unimpressed marca that has been past its glory days.
RYJ churchills are fantastic. Have 20 tubos ageing right now!

Call me a party pooper Hate em with a passion. Have 2 ELs that I'll tryy in the summer. If they're shite, I give up!
And Peejay: Si Bolivar just mentioned my favourite 2 bolivars (reg production). Corona Gigantes is VERY enjoyable in 2 years time. Belicoso Finos is good at any time. But only the strength changes, not so much the flavour. I keep mine to a year with Simons recommendation of after a meal. Really helps!

I am the opposite - I really didn't like the Wide, but found the Short the best out of a bad bunch (I thought the Petit was awful!)

On the whole I find the Monte No. 4 the most overrated cigar - I can't for the life of me figure out why its the world's best selling cigar!

I am also not convinced that Cohibas are worth the extra money they cost - I wouldn't say I dislike them, but I have never felt I got my money's worth (although admittedly I haven't tried that many and none of them aged)

I'm just getting back into cigars after a 10-12 year break, so have been trying to find some good cigars to ease me back. I had read loads of good stuff about Epicure No.2s but was very disappointed. The first couple I had were when I was abroad, so I assumed the poor smoke was due to low quality sticks (purchased from a LCDH shop though) , and thought that proper UK EMS sticks would be better, unfortunately they were the same, very disappointing. I'm not at all convinced by this EMS thing either.
