  • U2 is definitely on my regular play list. Some of the youtube footage from their live stadium tours is amazing. Powerful stuff that.

Am I the only person who thinks U2 are just a fair to middlin Christain rock band?

If the BIG bands like Zep etc. were still around, U2 would be shown for what they are.

      • Harsh words................
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'

Och, I know, but I work in Dublin and the Irish media seems to hang on every word that emanates from Bono!

I agree that they have done some reasonably good stuff, but I think they're WAY past their sell by date and their lyrics are getting embarrassing.

          Just my opinion.....

No. I thought the first two albums were fresh at the time but it has been a bit of a descent into MOR since then.

I remember seeing Bono on Jonathan Ross afew years ago and I think he let the mask slip a little. He was egregiously arrogant. I have been unable to be bothered with him ever since.

You mean to say that there was a time when he did try to hide his unadulterated arrogance?

As for U2 - I find if I hear one of their songs, I either thing "What a great track!" or "What complete tripe..." Normally the latter though.

Once again I am listening to the Proms on iPlayer.

"You Really Got me" over the "Death of a Clown" but I decided to keep it all in my "Autumn Almanac" while watching a "Waterloo Sunset" before returnng to "Dead End Street."

                            • I've just been to a Festival week end so I am catching up with some of the sounds I enjoyed.

Mostly Dreadzone (how the hell did I miss them???) a great band live, really jumping music.

And (for my pre-pubescent girlie side) Seth Lakeman who is too good looking to be such a great musician
