  • The new Maiden album. Very catchy apart from the 4 minute mess on the front of the 1st song. Bad idea.

Him doing "thats how I got to Memphis" live from the album:

Indeed, one of my favourite pieces of music.

Another moving piece which I like is simplicity itself: Maxwell Davies' Farewell to Stromness.

        • I'm currently loving 3 Rounds and a Sound by Blind Pilot. Nice acoustic stuff with great lyrics. I'd highly recommend it.

          • This man is mad and brilliant. Two warnings: don't play this at work and good luck with not singing the chorus out loud in awkward places.

            • Great stuff. Is he the singer from Gnarls Barkley.

                • Love Me Do by The Beatles.

Thats of course followed by Bach's 'Goldberg Variations: Aria' with some father beans and a nice chianti.

brilliant! the guy is a musical genius, the list of great songs he's worked on behind the scenes is impressive.

                        • I'm a big fan of progressive rock with a bit of electronica thrown in as well but I'm having a very stressful day at work right now so a little of my favourite piano composer is in order.

I think this is one of the most beautiful and melancholy pieces of music ever written.

Certainly a contender. Maybe Number of the Beast?

Not a popular opinion among metal-heads but I was never a big fan of Sabbath, just never got what all the fus was about. Maiden on the other hand are awesome (even if I don't really like what they've done since Bruce came back), first band I ever saw live at the tender age of 15. If you're looking for the definitive classic metal song then it's got to be Maiden, probably Run to the Hills.

I remember seeing this in the 90's and wondering who the hell they were. Not too long after that, it was all over. Indie wouldn't be what it is without em:
