I actually played pulse (the live double album from the 1994 tour) for the first time for ages today....

My God, I absolutely LOVE this!

I went to the show at Earl's Court, and it was literally one of the greatest musical (as well as visual!) experiences of my life...

If you haven't heard this and, like me, you adore the Floyd, you must, must have it (I insist).

All of it is great, but the live performance of Dark Side Of The Moon and the following encore (check out the slide guitar solo in Comfortably Numb ) is simply incredible in my opinion (and takes me right back to the heaven I was in when I was there)

I went more recently to see Dave Gilmour at the Albert Hall; that was another one of my greatest musical experiences.

I have to say, I love all types of music (being a musician and all), but if I had to name my favorite band of all time, it would have to be Pink Floyd.

I base this one two things: 1. My absolute favorite album is Dark Side, and 2. My absolute favorite song is Wish You Were Here.

So, I guess you could say I quite like 'em eh?

I was also at the Earls Court concert and I remember saying to my mate after they played Comfortably Numb, that they should quit here and now because it would NEVER get any better!

What a concert! I even got my hair burnt from the wee plane that flew over the audience!

I just replied to a post by nicwing (click here) alluding to the fact that I'm a happy, straight male.

However, The Floyd is also my most favorite band of all time (six concerts: 2 with Waters; 4 without) and I was wondering if you were free this Wednesday next?

Well, I too am not batting for the other side as it were, but if you weren't on the other side of the pond.....

I'm more a Gilmour man than Waters. I absolutely love his voice, and he is, in my opinion, one of the top three guitarists of all time (the others being Jimi Hendrix and Pete Townsend)

I was in Hyde Park for the Live8 reunion, and it made the whole (very long!) day worthwhile.... heaven!

Of course, just before Floyd came on, it was The Who, so the finale of Live8 really was very very memorable.

I absolutely agree, it was pure heaven.... (I assume you have "Pulse"?).

That performance of Comfortably Numb was simply incredible; I remember thinking I'd die happy if I dropped down there and then.

In my office listening to a Brass Band playing in nearby Grosvenor Square.

Being home to the US Embassy in the UK we're used to hearing weird chanting, drumming & alike from the varied ranks of protestors that queue to get into the Square. However a fully tuneful band is an anomoly so I put my jacket on to go & investigate. On my way out I asked at the reception if they knew what was going on. Doh - I had, of course not take account of today's date.

[BTW can anyone guess my favourite band - careful now there, is a clue?]

still, this ones great. he needs to record a completely solo acoustic album, some of these songs should go down with the greats

Have been listening to players who might join me and a singer to form a new band. Country Rock, in essence. Knocked out by the drums and guitar I've been looking at.

We all met today and get on. Loads of laughter. Nobody with a King or Queen Dong ego.

We play together for the first time on Monday after work.

I hope it comes together... It will be a good band and it will be fun.

We all want strong harmony vocals, and it seems we can all do them.

I shouldn't tempt fate by mentioning it, but I think it could well gel.

This is a tune we've agreed to try out tomorrow. I have been working it out today on keys. I love Bruce Hornsby's playing so much, and I have to say that Bonnie Raitt's voice and everything else about her give me the absolute horn. More even than when I watch the rubber glove sub-assemblage in Subway.
