I'm currently in the planning / Info gathering stage of a trip to Cuba, there has been some good posts on the subject in the past, I think a section related to travel to Cuba and what to do while there would be useful.. could we have that?

I think this is a great idea for the Wikki and I know that Deano has been (among others) and Rooooboooooosto is doing lots of investigation now in preparation for his trip in 3 or 4 weeks.
A guy who has been to all of the Festivals for the last 10 years and goes twice a year did the walk 3 months ago and I am in touch with him via Facebook.
I will find out if he has ever written down any of his accumulated knowledge.
I know he had some serious inside knowledge on where was best to buy and where to avoid.
Also Magali (who posts here infrequently) & Ajay are also old hands.
Go to it boys & girlsNic

I find the Wiki to be a nice idea but way too much trouble for the average user. Have you READ the "help" files?
Anyway, most of the real cigar-related info is already in Wikipedia so why re-invent the wheel?
If any of you are using Google Earth, I have a "kmx" (kml) file with all the good cigar locations in Havana and Varadero pinned as Favorite spots.
This would be "GPS Friendly" if there were actually any GPS maps of Cuba, and IF the Cubans would allow GPS receivers into the country (there aren't and they don't) but I find that printing up the maps to carry along at least lets you plan a route.
Chris: if you know where in Cuba you are going, I could edit some info for you. I also have a "Havana Pub Crawl" (suitable for a wasting afternoon) that could be updated.
I'll be in Havana Nov 14-29 and in Varadero Nov 29- Dec 06.
For those of you on Facebook, I have a couple of cigar-related Cuban photo albums and some general Cuba stuff including suggestions for relevant guidebooks for newbies.

I think the Wiki is great having dipped my first toe in it yesterday by adding some Madrid info, but it isnt the easiest to use like Cbob said... maybe we could have a sub section and some of the members who are better at the wiki side of things can glean the useful info and stick it up on the wiki?
Cbob/Mike I havent much planed yet at all really currently trying to work out where to stay and how much it will cost etc

I always thought it would be a good idea to have a whole section on "Cigar Travel", which could incorporate this.
The idea being when people visit different countries or cities, they post a review and pictures of the different cigar stores / friendly establishments that they visited along with other information like good bars, restaurants, attractions or places to stay, then people could look up this information if they happen to be visiting the same city in the future.
I think there's already threads about Barcelona, Madrid, Berlin, Las Vegas, Hawaii to name but a few."The best cigar you'll ever smoke is the one you're smoking at the minute" - Zino Davidoff
