Since this is my 1000th post I thought I better make it noteworthy, so here goes.
I read an article last time I was home relating to the changes which may happen in Cuba over the next few years and the impact it would have on the infrastructure and economy within the country.
Bearing that in mind, I decided that I better get over there before it all changes for the worse.I have about a month to kill in the UK, and I decided to head over and check it out.I leave tomorrow morning.
It has all been a bit rushed to be honest and I am going to tour round the Island and take in as much as I can of the culture which the country has to offer.
I will not be taking my laptop, so I may not be posting much for the next few weeks on the forum. If I can post something while in the country then I will certainly do so, failing that I should have plenty of photographs when I return.
First few days will be spent in the Melia Cohiba Hotel in Havana, which apparently has a huge cigar shop in the lobby, with hard to find cigars in its stock. They also hold cigar tasting evenings(there`s a thing you don`t come over very often).
Will then be heading up to Cinfuegos, Trinidad and Santa Clara, as well as Vinales in Pinar del Rio, which as you know is where the main agricultural area is, and this is one place I have always wanted to see.I will then head back over to Varadero to chill out for a few days on the beach.
Hopefully there will be no hurricanes while I am there, and the sun will be shining; along the way I also hope to pick up a few boxes of Cubas finest as well.
