Anyone on here have / still use a turntable? Havent had one in a few years but still kept my small collection. Just picked up an audio technica lp120xusb and a marantz pm6006 amp. Have some klipsch speakers on the way as well. I will probably upgrade to an ortofon stylus at some point.

I love just sitting and being made to pay attention because you cant skip a track. Goes well with a cigar as well!

I sold my Technics 30 years ago and the friend who bought it still uses it.

Nice looking set up there. I still use a turntable, an old Numark one from a set of decks. I could do with an upgrade to something similar to yours 7kingsguy.

The lp120 is a well regarded mid range option. I did consider going vintage as you can get a bargain but i thought this would be less hassle.

Yes, I still have my pair of Technics SL1200mkII bought in the 90's, and which I've now set up in the loft. Not at home or would post a photo.

Also have an Audio Technica (forgot the model!) In the living room.

That's a nice looking turntable 7kingsguy obviously influenced by the 1200 but modernised.

          Are you pleased with it?

How do the amp and speakers perform?

I can recommend both Ortofon and Shure carts, depending on what you're after. I used Shure for many years as I did a fair bit of scratching and turntablist, but am eyeing up Ortofon too.

Just reread that you don't yet have the speakers!

Yep im testing it with some old cheap all in one hi fi speakers for the mo. You can tell the sound is good its just not being given a chance with the crap speakers. Ive gone for some klipsch bookshelf speakers so will report back next week when they come.

Ive heard about the sl1200 its a very good turntable. I did consider looking for a second hand one.

Im more into folk and singer songwriter stuff but ive inherited my grandads classical stuff which is all in great shape. Some really nice stuff, not worth much so i will hang on to them and give them a play. Also just discovered the discogs site which is a big hole in the wallet. Ive already spent a hundred quid on there.

Discogs is brilliant, really helps satisfy that collection filing.

We just bought Coles Corner by Richard Hawley, well with a listen and the vinyl sounds great.

                New audio setup

Nice set up! I love my audio kit, bit like cigars for me worth spending money on to properly enjoy and chill out with. One day I?m having a man cave off a garage with a listening and smoking den!

Currently I use a Rega P3 or Sonos streamer into an arcam DAC then a Rega Elicit-R into Tannoy XT8s which I am trying to convince will do me for a long time now. Have a few custom built valve headphone amps too based on various schematics.

Must admit that the cigar collecting has taken over from record collecting but still love my vinyl.

Looks great. I dont think my budget quite stretches to that though.

It all seems odd to me having been there and done it and now being one of the oldest members I've embraced the digital age. I've just bought the Echo Studio for my cabin where I'm spending twelve hour shifts working from home. Getting up every 20 minutes to change the record would drive me nuts.

For me the vast majority of the time I listen to digitally streamed lossless music but for setting time aside to properly listen to music I love vinyl.

For me there?s something to be said for pouring a drink and then the ritual of picking a record, warming up an amp and everything else it involves to chill out and focus on just music and do nothing else. The opposite of a convenience I find helps in the modern age where everything else is so rushed.

I think its about slowing down just like with cigars. The problem with digital is that its too easy. I end up switching tracks all the time and my mind wanders to something else. With vinyl you have to give it more attention and just listen to a side. Its not for everyone i get that. Im not one for music in the background. I like to give it my full attention if i can.

It can be a bit like cigars what you think is the budget for a setup grows just like the value of our collections do!

Lovely! Is that a 1200 rather than the 1210?
