Many if not all of our fine brothers in UKCF use an alias. What?s the story of the alias (not necessarily who?s behind it)?
Ive been fly fishing for salmon and sea trout most of my life and for over 30 years I devoted my entire spare time on tying classic Atlantic salmon flies both for fishing and exhibition.
Half way into that career I finally realized that the perfect salmon iron had not yet been invented, so I started making my own (and a few for sale) salmon hooks from scratch wire. I spent 20 years doing this, and travelled all over at shows etc. to promote the making of your own hooks within that small exclusive community. As time passed I became know as the ?hookmaker?. The name stuck on everything and on all things. It became my alias or handle for fly fishing and tying forums, rc helicopter forums, paragliding forums and now cigarforums.
