Every time I post a picture of a cigar and then look at the photo I feel that I could do with a manicure! I know that I do manual work for a living so my nails are never going to be pristine, but I do feel slightly ashamed by the state of my fingers! That said, it would appear from the photos posted I'm not the only member with manky fingers, although perhaps the only one who is feeling self conscious Is anyone prepared to own up to having their nails done and if so what's involved?

Not had them done, but work with a chap, that does. He swears by it. Its basically a lot of moisturising and nail buffing. I occasionally get my feet and toes done if i am heading off for a few days hard walking on tough ground. The on set of boot bang is worse with toe nails that are too long and in bad order."Dear heart, you're talking to a man- a real man- who drinks straight Tequilla, with lime and salt on the rim, and smokes cigars" (J Zavala)

A good friend of mine who is a mechanic had his done the day before his wedding and IIRC the manicurist nearly passed out! She said she'd never seen hands like it and didn't know where to start.

Not ever had my nails done but I did buy some O?Keefe?s Working Hands because I get very dry hands and it?s incredible stuff. I?d recommend putting on before bed though, it can feel a little odd on your skin!
Perhaps try this before inhaling all those nail bar fumes?...

Indeed an unusual subject, guess that shows how touchy, feely we are becoming in our tight knit group. I do my own nails but I the use 'tough as nails' varnish, as my nails split really easily. It often attracts some ribald comments on the rig. Sometimes you notice there are shiny in my photos. The varnish does work well if anyone suffers a similar problem. Use two coats & it'll last around a week.Simon Bolivar: Liberator of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru & Venezuela.
