Sad news indeed Groundhog, I have always thought if a similar situation arose for me that I would still keep a few back to smoke at Christmas, birthdays & anniversaries, as I think I could finish as I started (when cigars were only smoked on red letter days) but I know for some it's easier to give up completely than have an occasional smoke & know there's half a box left in your humi.
Sincerely hope the drug comes through in time to make a difference to your daughter's quality of life & sure you'll find some other interests to keep you amused & entertained.
