MM - you have a fair and level head mate. Very diplomatic.....

But some of you are not debating the moral complexities of the treatment of terrorists, but more to the point the validation of the intelligence, evidence and prosecution.

I for one question this and so do some of you.
I think TJ is debating a seperate issue to be honest.
For a start, the question begs to be asked, If he was guilty, why would Gaddafi offer him up on a plate, look at his track record for christ sake, there stands a very good chance Gaddafi was protecting his sources.
And with America backed into a corner and in need of a perpertrator to this horrible atrocity, well, do the math.

Look into it TJ, it reeks of a stich up and I think there is a chance he is innocent from what I have read and heard, maybe thats why Brown has refused to comment on this affair over the last week or so, I know its a Scottish ruling and Brown can no way intervene, but it does strike me as odd that there has been no official release from Downing street, although I think Mandleson condemed the move to release him.

I think he was a pawn in classic game of international politics and I say that with the up-most respect to all the families who lost loved ones.

Yes, Mr Moore. These things should be debated.
EVEN on a cigar site. IMHO, it enhances the place.
As long as we don't hit each other with hammers.

      I've tried to hold back.

I feel so dubious about the justice system in the UK. There have been miscarriages of justice. There have been people released from jails who have been banged up for years for no reason. I feel a bit cynical about 'justice' per se.

I had forgotten that anyone was banged up for the Lockerbie explosion, so when this hit the news, I was taken aback.

I cannot work out whether Salmond's justice rep/ the Scottish Parliament has/have been brave or stupid.

I don't like nationals being scorned for their leaders' actions. If I'm German, I'm not representative of Hitler. If I'm English, I'm not representative of Thatcher.

I'm just myself. Not a 'national', as such.

That won't add to this debate, but I wanted to write something.

      Plus ca change.

I don't like the way the British are tarred with Bp's name. Bp may be London based, buts its no longer a British company. The majority of shares are held out of the country, plus half the board are non British, along with over half of the work force

What happened is a disgrace to the environment and to human life, and they should be punished, but its our thirst for oil that pushes companies on. Bp aren't the only ones who have caused major problems, but for an american politician to say he "wouldn't trust anyone with a British accent" is out of order in my humble opinion.

Rant off, I'm back to selling cartridges

Just another politician with a tongue for brain. And who trusts them anyway!

                        Yes, that may do it.
Although I must admit to a slight carnal desire for Governor Palin personally.
