... How awesome this forum is? I spent a few days on the largest German language cigar forum recently and you wouldn't belive the hostility people bring towards each other.
The problem is that there are no moderators...
I just felt like saying that we cannot appreciate enough how awesome this forum is. The camaraderie and friendliness I have seen here is rare these days on the Internet.
Long live the UKCF! [emoji847]

which forum is that? I also frequent zigarrenforum and that looks ok to me.

I'd totally agree with this. Rarely have I ever seen such a willingness, on a forum, to share knowledge and welcome people. Thanks!

It was Zigarrenforum indeed. I joined in a discussion about a cigar and (unrelated to my post) all hell broke loose. 3 pages of thread that had nothing to do with cigars. Instead 3 guys were going at each other for some stuff that happened in the past. I also suggested in another thread to do something like our COTM, which people liked. But soon someone said something along the lines "Then we'll see how the big mouths will be able to identify a cigar...". I don't know. You suggest a blind tasting and forum members first instinct is to see an opportunity to shame others publicly? I just can't see anything like that happening here.
I read nearly every day but life took off in the last year or two with work, marriage and too many cigar hangovers I cut down significantly!
Anyway, this all has brought a tear to my eye if I'm honest, it's all I ever wanted. We had a few issues (but all is forgiven I hope, and all are welcome back!) over our many years, but generally we don't have too many spats and the community has gone from strength to strength. I'm so happy it just plods on without the normal ruckus you see across the majority of other internet forums.
I've genuinely met some of the best people I've ever had the fortune to meet on here (Nic Wing is definitely one of those) and hope we all continue to cross paths in the future.
For those who know me, I'm quite a sensitive chap, so when the going is tough I take it deeply personally - but when I see a thread like this and the response from the community it elevates me to think I've been part of it. Thank you for allowing me the chance over the years to come to know you all, meet you in person, and smoke a cigar or two.
We missed our ten year anniversary last year because of all the things that were going on in real-life (!) so I'm hoping we can put a day or eve together to put a bash on in the same vain as we had many many years ago. I know there's the charity event too, which is fantastic, but this gives us another excuse to smoke it up! I'll see what I can do - maybe a thread to see what suggestions we can brainstorm.
I'd agree with all that's been said on here and I must have made at least half a dozen new friends from being on here. Thanks Deano for saving my middle aged social life!
I'm a relative newbie, but have been made to feel very welcome and it has been really great to have the opportunity to physically meet up with some members at different herfs. If I had to think of one word to describe UKCF it's generosity. Have a good weekend all.
