Which Summer House/Herfing hut would you choose?

Just found this site through FB. They have over 50 different shapes & sizes to suit every garden space & budget, to assuming you could afford & have the space for any, which would you choice. The married ones amongst us will be smart & consider that how it looks, will affect our Beloved's attitude to having take up a large part of any available space. As someone else said, if you can convince the wife it's a summer house that could also be used in the winter for herfing you're probably halfway there.
My choice would be this one, which is also the one they used as an example on the FB ad, there are others with more glass but in the winter that would require more heating & a little privacy is a good thing IMHO, especially if it can be seen by the neigbours.

Very nice Simon, going to be in the market for one soon this end, Mrs wants an Art Studio so going to have to put in some work, we are also looking at a lean to conservatory which she has said she won't mind me enjoying a cigar in, whether this stays true will remain to be seen.

Indeed, reality can always be different ;O) I have seen several homes with Conservatories but if the doors enter from inside the house i.e. through the living room, there will always be some smoke & smell leak, that won't do for my wife so a separate building would be best bet for us. Just sent MLW the links & she wasn't impressed, thinks it's a pipe dream but hey, as I pointed out, if we are buying a house in the South, the additional cost of a herf hut, is a miniscule addition to the overall bill.

I would want mine big enough to invite a couple of friends around. Once word gets out a herf hut is available then I am sure they will come!

Think you hit the nail on the head there Shaun. It is of course possible to smoke in snow or under the shelter of an awning or fishing umbrella in the rain but the enjoyment factor doesn't compare to being warm & dry. And you get a lot less out of a cigar flav wise in less than optimal conditions, I still to strong full strength smokes or machine mades when I have to smoke outside. Waste of time enjoying the lighter marcas in these conditions.

I think you can tastefully design one that the wife would be happy with, it doesn't have to be a big square/rectangle either. With proper insulation and smoke extraction they can be a great dual purpose room as well.

I have just taken on a new allotment plot with a shed, no electricity obviously, have seen some stuff about using the flower pot & tea light heaters so might experiment, could do with a Tilley Lamp too.

Speaking of dungeons. Not sure what kind of hut [MENTION=13462280]thedame007[/MENTION] went for. But he was still freezing his nips off even with the electric blanket. So need something to avoid these kinds of injuries during winter.

God, that electric blanket is one of the best things i have ever bought - though this may be the old man in me speaking (said the choir boy...)

well...considering this is hypothetical is would go for the Montrose, looks to have separate room so one for me and one for her!!

In reality though, for my garden and what i would need i would go for the vermont 8 x 8. I like the doors, great for the summer and cabin up in the winter!!

and for thos looking for heating this time of year i have one of these, well mine is slightly different.

it works on the camping gas cylinders. The ones that go in the little stoves. It kicks out some heat and i use it either in the garage or just sit it next to me on the patio. relatively cheap and cheerful way to get some heat while i'm having a stick

I used to have a Calor gas heater in a room in a previous house and the amount of moisture it put out was ridiculous. I wouldn't use one in a wooden cabin.

I'm thinking 8x8 too. Will have to measure the existing shed! Challenge would be stopping MLW filling it with junk...

As for heater. Switched from gas to electric 1.8kw. never looked back. Simpler.

Just need to get another for the other side until I get a hut .........

I wouldn't think gas fires, in enclosed spaces, with naked flames & glowing cigars are a great idea either.
