Unsure as to whether this should really go in The Bar section, but curious if anyone has a Laithwaites monthly subscription or has ordered from them before? The prices look very good (much better than a supermarket) though I don't be placing an order until next month owing to some expensive car repairs! Ironic really as I needed a drink when I heard how much it was going to cost!

My brother-in-law-to-be-when-they-get-their-act-together uses Laithwaites. Swears by it. Usually good wines. Once you rate some and they know what you like they suggest similar stuff. So far we're very happy with their service & sugegstions!
I use Naked Wines..--
I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

I've used laithwaites for the last 8 or 9 years and have the 4 seasons plan - a case every 3 months. In all that time I have only had two bottles that I didn't like and a phone call resulted in a replacement. If you are tempted I'd be happy to recommend you as I think they give an introductory gift to new members and those who recommended them.

Have a look at The Wine Society as an alternative. One off membership fee which gets you access to exclusives and consistently excellent wine.
Prices are kept relatively low and profits are invested back in to the wines.
I've been ordering through a friend for the last few years but will be getting my own membership as he's leaving the UK.
Highly recommended.

If anyone else is interested in finding out more about laithwaites then pm me with your email and I will send you a referral. You will get a good introductory deal with a couple of bottles of free wine and a pair of glasses and I will get a ?20 voucher when you order. Cheers!

I was having a look at the Wine Society site and found this graphic, which I thought was quite interesting.
When I met my wife, she drank mostly under ?5 a bottle wine, which mostly tasted like cow piddle. I always tended to spend at least ?8 to ?9 a bottle.
And now I know why!

Been with Laithwaites for years, gold membership is worth getting 30 a year free delivery and 2 free premium bottles extra every case. Have 4 seasons red monthly although I do defer it sometimes if stock has built up.

Laithwaites will never stop sending you stuff! I like them a lot. I live not too far from one of their stores so tend to buy there rather than on a plan. Black Stump, Waxed Bat, Rex Mundi are some favourites... the Full XV sparkling Shiraz is a belter for BBQ season... the stores will generally match the case offers in the mail order catalogues. The stores also carry some pretty serious wines that arent specific Laithwaites blends/wines. They used to carry a sparkling shiraz by Scarpantonio... which was life changingly good but seems to have gone by the by...."Dear heart, you're talking to a man- a real man- who drinks straight Tequilla, with lime and salt on the rim, and smokes cigars" (J Zavala)

I also tried Swig.co.uk who are much more niche and there are more expensive wines on the whole. Was recommended by friends who are wino's. I guess you've got to be into your wines here. Whatever that means.
Naked market on funding small producers. So you get some unique stuff. Good pricing. They were bought by majestic a couple of years ago. So that's put me off lol
Never had a laithwaites membership myself. But lots of comments!.--
