• The big question

I was going to entitle this thread 'the big question...an elephant in the room' but, when you see what it's about, you'll realise why that might have been inappropriate.

In rounding-off the Secret Santa thread, Emaresee commented (and I'm sure we all agree whole-heatedly) that, 'Secret santa has once more confirmed that BOTL/ SOTL are beacons of sanity, generosity and human spirit...'

However, this begs the question (something, I must I've been wondering for a while), are there indeed any SOTL here? I'm sure we'd all say 'hoorah' if there are. It could be that, if you are a SOTL, then you're happy to remain incognito as to that aspect, but it would be interesting to know if there is a different perspective in play and not just wall-to-wall man-sheds (yes, I know, if your man-shed isn't wall to wall, then the roof will fall in!).

I'm sure I've seen a post recently (although not necessarily here) with someone smoking a cigar together with his partner or sister. Not saying that she's a member here, but not completely unheard of.

There definitely are some SOTL but don't think I've seen anyone here.

This is the point though isn't it? If you look globally there will be what seems a large reasonable number.

But in the UK, and on social media seems to be only the CGars ladies holding the fort? And they are probably encouraged by the boss

There's been a very few ladies in my local lounge in the odd evening.

So on this particular forum? Very unlikely I guess looking at the stats.

My GF takes a puff or two from time to time. She also had one with me last year. My mom smoked a cigar from time to time when she was younger and the whole family had a Hoyo Elegantes herf last year.

Tbh there are loads of sotl, but I feel they've other things to do than listen to men rattle on about humidors, humidity and cotm. They're too glued to Fb

If you go back far enough,we have had one or two join & then disappear quickly, same with the old group Club Havana. Most were trying to sell. Just because some women enjoy the occasional cigar, I would suggest there's very few who would feel the need to go regularly on a site & discuss cigars; where after all, they would be the only SOTL. \Whereas, I know quiet a few who post pics regularly on FB page & most of those are not US but not UK either.

For example my sis and other half sister were enjoying a stick on the terrace over the new year . For them it?s more social event smoking . Couldn?t see them engaging in regular chat on cigars

Think cigars and females are a bit niche. But you never know

A group I'm on has about 2 or 3 active ladies. But it's definitely more of a male passion. Plenty of female cigar smokers on Instagram.

Mrs @RobustoClubHavana I think is a full badge carrying SOTL... but I agree not so many participating in forums. My Mrs is a former cigarette smoker and is from time to time tempted by a mild smoke. She finds Hoyo, Dippy and ERDM to be all quite appealing to her nose, but will rapidly vacate the area at the first whiff of even the most carefully aged Partagas finding it far too sharp and acrid on her nose.
