Just finished checking the loft and examining the rubble left after Eleanor blew a handful of roof ridge tiles and a couple of tiles off the roof. Quite unnerving hearing the winds and the sounds of tiles smashing on the ground. Luckily no major damage from what we could see so far.

Three years ago neighbours roof tiles came down and landed on their car in the drive!

    Phew.

    Hope all's well out there..

    B.

If it hadn't been dark when I left for work I would have taken a picture of the tree down in our front garden. There again I should have taken it in and put it back in its box after Christmas! I did have to swerve around a few wheelie bins on the way in though.

A bit of wind in winter, if you listened to the news you would think an asteroid had just impacted and a 2mile high wave was inbound.

Aye. But getting someone fast before rains come again is the biggest problem.

Guttering, ridge tiles and some roof tiles it looks like.

MLW hates modern. Its an edwardian c1905 bottom half of the road is this style. Its not semi detached, no access to garden unfortunately. And so wish i had a garage... with a roof .. that I could convert into a smoking room!!!

Here's a stock photo from web of one exactly the same

Killer feature for me is the garden

My first house was a Victorian end of terrace very much like that. If you lifted the floorboards it was bare earth beneath and the internal walls were lathe and plaster. Made rewiring very easy.

Mines from about 1790 and still all the tiles are hanging in there.
I think it's nicely aged by now. Very windy still.

Had a similar issue last year when we lost 2 ridge tiles in one of the storms. Was easy fixed but we were lucky they missed the cars at the front. Is there any damage in the loft? I haven't even checked ours...

No damage inside thankfully. expecting roofers on Friday so hoping for a dry Thursday... some rain forecast for tonight.

We were lucky the tiles were blown to side. Front, and it would have hit the car = more insurance claims = more premiums = less cigars...

Good to hear. We had some rain afterwards but the roofers said it should have been fine as there is a lining under the roof which provides some protection.
