I had a few injuries myself in the distant past so I know how easy it used to be but with the latest needles, with guards ect, it shouldn't really happen any more. Paying a little more for the equipment should be easily justified on savings from potential pay out to staff in the future.

I've been the H&S bloke for the charity for 18 months now. This particular building has had 3 pairs of needlestick gloves purchased by me in that time. Each time they say we've lost them I spend out. After the meeting I went rummaging through the cupboards and found all 3 pairs. So it's more to do with education than lack of PPE.
Needle had been there for 48hrs or more so no real threat from HIV, but the needle owner has Hep so blood tests are now on the cards for the next 12 months.
Such a simple mistake to make and the young girl is now regretting her actions.
Hey ho. ALways tomorrow for a stick

No, but a few I have known- regretfully. I'm quite happy not to be managing people just now, even if it means less money.

Well if the company has provided the correct equipment & the training then they have for filled their part, apart from random auditing & finally disciplinary measures. I used these at Nottingham Hospital, don't know if you're nurses would ever use IV needles rather than just giving injections but these are amazing. As soon as you withdraw the needle a cover flaps over the point. Means you can't have a second go if you're not successful the first time but you can't harm yourself with them, wonderful invention & I'd love to know how they came up with such & effective in genius device. Cost of course is an issue put if your working with high risk patients, got to be a life saver.

We don't have nurses. I work for a charity which supports ex and using druggies. So needles are a daily hazard. Hence me always buying new gloves as soon as they say they are lost. The young lady in question is a front line case worker.

In quite a sanguine mood... two funerals in two days. Not family, but people who have had a distinct and positive input into my life. Both were genuinely lovely people who put as much into life, in differnet ways, as possible.

Somewhat hammered home the message, that whatever your passion, make the time to do it and share the experience with the good folk around you.

              Sad news dude.

Look after number one and you can better look after and spend time with those you love.

My missus takes the first piece and is always looking after number one lol [emoji3]

Well I ended up sort of making time. Well the wife made the time for me. She decided we were going to walk the dogs. We were qall set to go and then surprisingly she asked why I wasn't having a smoke while we were out. So I grabbed the first stick from the humi and off we went. I don't even know what I smoked, IO was just happy to be smoking. I could possibly work out which stick it was if I did an inventory check but to be honest, I don't care. It was a nice smoke, easy draw, nice taste and was about an hour. More than that I couldn't tell you.
Strange thing, we found a chestnut tree, so the wife decided that she wanted a chestnut to eat. So I passed my stick over to her for holding, as I was reaching up, I saw a nice cloud of smoke come past me. Turned around and there she was having a puff on my stick. In fact she quite liked it. Not enough to have another puff but enough to enjoy the taste. Sometimes my wifes surprises me when I least suspect it

Moment like you describe make smoking cigars even more enjoyable.

Better keep an eye on your sticks mate - they might mysteriously start disappearing!

Sweet story. Good to hear! You didn't even need to make time so to speak. Just grab the opportunities when they present themselves.

I see from this forum that walking the dog is a good excuse.

Rats! I thought we got rid of that little bug-ger eons ago.

Note to @Deano: PLEASE do a thorough virus/malware/spyware sweep of the UKCF platform?

                          Thank You.

There seems to be an awful lot of Coro-like-named bots in the system. I will expunge them immediately.

I have been hoarding pitchforks and burning torches for just such an occasion!!! (Alas no pitchfork pictures...)

Had a night out at the pub on Saturday. Weather was good. We were all sat outside for about an hour. I reached for my Reyes in my pouch. Everyone got up and went inside. I was very tempted to stay outside for another 30 or 40 mins.. but I didnt doh!
