I'm seriously considering heading across myself. Almost volunteered for it, but then got paid employment again!

If I am there, I shall be looking out for Church End Gravedigger - a luscious mild.

Some more real ale fans!! I too am planning on going - was going to go on Friday but given Thurs and Fri now in the east we have the 'lesser spotted national express east anglia train service' (2 day strike) I think I may have to go for Wednesday!

Deano mate, you should see the list of ciders they have at this event. Biddingtons is a fave of mine!

Last beer festival I went to there was this table of old boys with long hair and long beards, must have been about 5 of them. Anyway they would go up to the kegs and get a different pint each, go back to the table and then split it into 5 smallers glasses for each one to have a try. One of them would then go back and get 'x' number of pints of the ones they liked and then at the table they poured them into bottles to take home. Each man must of have about 12 bottles by the end of the session.

Nice idea but quite the effort.

That sounds like a crap beer festival (pardon my language). I've been to a number of well organized festivals, which the GBBF is, and they've all been fantastic. Plenty of 'beardies', but not many of the weirdies that would be doing that...

Get a pint. Drink a pint. Get another pint... and so on...

Actually the Woking Beer Festival is one of the better festivals I have been to and is a very well respected event in the south east. I am not sure how you can give the opinion that it must be 'crap' based on what a group of 5 'weirdies' do. How they behave and what they do has got no bearing what so ever on the success of the festival or the quality of the beer available. In their case, I really don't think that anybody who attended was upset because of what they did, in fact it was a talking point and people thought it was great as they must be real beer lovers.

I don't agree with some rugby fans shouting and swearing at opposition fans during a match, but that does not detract from the quality of the game being played or the teams playing it. It certainly would not make me think that the game itself was 'crap' nor cast aspersions that the match was badly organised!

                    Well gents,

This is my first Beer Fest (always been a larger drinker until late...must have grown up), so would love to meet any of the BOTL whilst I am there.

                    Deano....they HAVE cider...

Sorry, misread your first post Paulie. For some reason I read it that it seemed to be what everyone was doing. Apologies for casting aspersions on a good beer festival.

I believe you've confused rugby with football... I've only ever once heard a rugby fan being aggressive towards an opposition fan. He was swiftly sorted out by 'one of his own'...
