Humidor no.3

Damn it. Humidor number three has come down from the loft... This can only mean one thing...

Don't ask me how or why I've ended up with three humidors because I don't remember! They are all supposedly 100ct. Two are pretty much maxed out now and I do have the itch.

I should really set up a tupperdor for a few boxes. But as I have this one spare might as we'll use it no?

It's three times the monitoring and maintenance now too. Surely the best thing to do is just get something big enough .. sadly I don't have a room to spare [emoji23]

I would like to get to the point where I've a load of sticks aging away and a nice stash to work on. But what's the best way to do this?

Tupperdore for aging? Plus a couple of humidors? That's still 3.

One big say 600 stick humidor? Or something like this ?

If you want one for aging and have the space take a look at a cooler or a scuba box....can fit in a load of boxes and singles in....I'd go down that route instead the of buying an expensive humidor....but that's me

As Shamz said - scuba box should do the trick, and for a lot less money (invest the rest in boxes!)

Scuba box looks good. 65% and open it every week? Do you find you can keep the boxes unopened? Always worried about mould in these plastic sealed containers.

Never an easy thing to deal with habanos we all have different tastes bit like marmite I myself have a nice 150 count humidor in the living room
in your case i'd get a scubador to keep your boxes in to age , when ready for smoking i'd put them in the humidor or like some members on here have done is to get a wine chiller put your boxes and singles in that with some L E D light and you can admire them all night instead of watching the television.

One big scuba box or wine fridge plus a decent sized humidor is the way to go imo. Put the boxes in the fridge and any loose sticks in the humidor. I've recently bought a fridge off eBay and don't regret it at all.

I would always open the boxes to inspect, can leave them closed but unsealed inside the scuba though. Open every once in a while - I can't really leave myself a whole week anyway - love to open and have a little look/smell every few days!

When you're ready to get serious...nothing beats a cabinet with an electronic humidifier. That's what don TJ did many years ago with his "massive unit" and he never looked back. BTW, all his desk tops units are now used to store pipe and puro paraphernalia.

I love the idea of an eletronic humidifier but does it extract humidity as well. Very important in our green and pleasant (and damp) land which is why Boveda and Heartfelt are so popular here.

Good point, muchacho. Under those conditions, what's needed is a anti-cabinet humidor! I think you can get one at Bizarro World!

But seriously folks, I don't see why you can't use beads in a massive unit to lower the humidity during those ding-dang Damp Periods.... and allow the electronic unit to control humidity the rest of the time. Best of both worlds, don't you agree?


Also, remember that the cedar lining, preferably Spanish cedar, magically assist in regulating humidity - don't know how, it just does - according to most woodologists! And you get a lot of cedar in a cabinet.
