  • I've returned, gentlemen!

    Chaps,

After my pre-warned absence on the continent, I have returned to the forums.

I promised to write a report on the cigar haunts of Rome, but can only apologise - I was a tad ill during the trip, and could barely keep my food under my hat, besides a good smoke.

For those of you who have yet to visit the city, I can only heartily recommend it. A mixture of ancient and medieval architecture stands in a heady atmosphere of culture, music and business.

And I mean busy-ness in the true sense of the word, because the city seems never to sleep.

I personally think the heat - 36-38 degrees, as well as a headache and a completely new style of cuisine, was the cause of my being quite under the weather indeed.

I did take a walk around a couple of the standard smoke shops, to keep as much of my promise as possible. They were well stocked, and seemed to go for quick, shorter CCs and NCs, rather than the larger sticks. I really think this is becoming more popular on the continent.

Anyway, I'm in full fettle now, and will be lighting a grand one in Oxfordshire next weekend. Until then, I will very much look forward to reading more reviews in these rooms to settle on the best stick possible!

Sorry to hear of your illness, glad your in full fettle now though!

I've been to the Italian alps a few times, and love Italian cuisine... I also quite like all of the Italians I have met and worked with. I really must visit Rome - everyone I know who has been has thoroughly enjoyed it.

My theory about the Italians is that they are so hot tempered because they have to eat Pasta. Yuk!

MMMmmm...!!! (said in a ponderous kind of way).

Absolutely and utterly, it's a place worth visiting again. I have *never* seen anything like St Peters Basilica. There are some amazing churches and such in Germany and Austria, but that place absolutely blew my mind.

Cheers everyone. This is lame, I know ... I'm crap with cameras! I buy stashes and stashes of postcards, which keeps me happy when I'm travelling around.

                              Much better now, chaps.
