  • What's your taste in music?

Mine is incredibly eclectic, more than most I think.

From everything from Springsteen to The Beach Boys, from Sting to Van Morrison, Mark Knopfler to...well lots. Hm I've seen each one of those (well, Brian Wilson in the case of The Beach Boys) except Springsteen. Must book him at some point.

My main two loves are folk and indie.

By folk I mean Nick Drake (my hero), Van Morrison, Ryan Adams, Jose Gonzalez, Simon and Garfunkel, Ray Lamontagne etc.

Indie can be a lot of things, but people like The Rakes, The Libertines, The Subways, The Paddingtons etcccc.

    Here's some Nick Drake.
Riverman (someone's dubbed some extra sounds like birds, kids etc on this stupidly) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEAsZa4Qz2Y

Pink Moon (stupid video tbh!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hE0ODrmaiFE

I said you had great musical taste on another thread having seen some of the artists you like elsewhere.

I'll start with this and develop over time, if I may.

Fugazi, Frank Zappa, Phish, Talking Heads, Rage Against the Machine, Mason Jennings (excellent if you're into folk), Tom Waits, 311, Weezer, Lil' Ed and the Blues Imperials, Ween, JJ Cale, Negativeland... I should stop there before it gets too much more incriminating.

It's a bloody hard exercise to pare this down and prioritise.
My most revered artists come from when I was a teenager in the 70s, and they are T.Rex (adore them!) and Elton John (started paying because of Saturday Night, etc). I listen to loads of other stuff, but I always go back to these two.

Mostly 80s stuff, but I like a lot of the new stuff too. Currently in my CD player (always a good indication of musical tastes) I have Elbow, Karl Jenkins x 2, OMD, and an Eighties compilation.

Why has no-one mentioned the Pixies? Came to them late, but what a band!

I can't be the only one who thinks so? Come on, reassure me...
