  • Computers - What do you use?

What do you use for your personal computing?
Mac OS / Windows / Linux / Chrome OS?
And what do you use it on?
    Desktop / Laptop / 2 in 1
    What sort of specs?
Do you use a tablet? (I'm guessing from all the tapatalk posts using phones is a given!)
I only use an android phone and a Chromebook for my digital life. I'm wondering what everyone else uses...

Computers - What do you use?

Apple here as well, an iMac, MacBook, iPhone 6 and iPad 3 (which is bordering on needing to be replaced as it won't update anymore).

My wife also has a iPhone 6 she can't used as she water damaged it, so uses a 5 instead, as well as an iPad Mini

HP Notebook 17.3 that's slowly dying on me and IPhone 7. My girlfriend has a small Macbook pro that's really nice, I wanted a big one for a while but I can't bring myself to spend that amount of money. Though I spend at least twice that amount on cigars every year.... go figure.

For home, MacBook Pro purchased in Afghan at a great saving, Ipad, Iphone, in fact Apple all the way but work is a Windoze 10 Laptop. It's brand new but couldn't tell you the spec, I asked for a new laptop as my current one was dying asked for Apple but denied as the IT bloke hates them with a passion so no one is allowed to have one.

I used to have custom build pc I would build but no need for it now I just use my work laptop...at the moe using a Mac book Air with Windows 7...can't stand 10.

But will be moving to surface pro...over the past year or so work have been replacing laptops with surfaces now.

I'm on my second Chromebook - I bought it as a supplemental machine to my windows happy. However, it was just better at what it did, with a far more impressive screen.
Now I've got it hooked up to a 27" monitor, which is nice. Only thing is, because it's a mobile processor, it can be a little slow if I have multiple tabs, music and a spreadsheet going on, for example.

Here's a question for the Apple people....
I've borrowed a friend's MBP (2011, I think) running Sierra. I'm using it hooked up to a monitor.
It's pretty good. However - looking at the specs of a new MBP (even bottom of the line with student discount) It's ?1142.
I think the last time I spent that on a computer was 1997, when they all cost that or more.
                        So here's the question:
What makes an Apple laptop worth twice an equivalent spec Windows laptop?

                          The badge..

Apple are masters at selling mediocre hardware for top top prices.

Totally agree...there marketing team for the past 10+ years have just been on point making a device look and sound better than there competition...but when you break down the hardware it really isn't

Just noticed you said you're moving to the surface pro- how come? Aren't they similarly really high priced? But without the Apple levels of support?
Btw, as i said, I'm on the fence between both, so I'm trying to decide which side to fall on...
